Home Visit Service for patients

Allure Hair DOES NOT visit any clients / patients at their home or anywhere else.

I do not have staff who can be sent for home or hospital visit to take measurements. Those patients / clients who are unable to visit my place due to illness or any other health reasons are requested to use the instructions given on the website about how to take measurements & other required details & email it to me.

Wigs made with clients own hair.

As a matter of policy we do not use clients own hair to make any product.

Allure Hair makes wigs with virgin human hair ONLY from our own stock of hair which we buy from the temple auctions & we are aware of its quality. The hair needs to be strong & healthy enough to withstand the hand knotting process.

Hair that has been chemically processed will possibly break easily when it is knotted into the wig base. Chemically processed hair is prone to breakage which makes it unusable for the type of high quality wigs that we make.

One person’s own hair is never sufficient to make a wig. We always have to add more hair from our stock to make a wig.

Our stock hair undergoes process of sizing the hair as per various lengths which is done in bulk quantity. We are unable to spare time to do it with individual person's hair due to the work load we always have.

Wig Trials are not provided during Consultation

We do not have wigs of different designs, types and sizes for clients to wear and try on their own head during consultation. We only show samples of the different type wigs we make.

Due to our strict health & hygiene standards, we DO NOT allow clients to try on wigs made for others on their head.

Consultation & refusing the client's order

During the consultation there are many instances when the clients requirements or demands or expectations about a wig or any other product that we make are unrealistic, impractical and cannot be achieved. It is difficult to make them realise the limitations of wigs or the efforts that they have to put in to style to look like their dream wig. I try to explain to them that they have to adjust & lower their expectations & not be stubborn. Inspite of my expertise, experience & capability to make good wigs or any other products I make, I refuse to accept their order to avoid any problem later on after the wig is made and client asking for a refund.

I do feel bad at times when I refuse to accept the client's order especially if they are Cancer patients. I have a simple thought process that as the cancer patients are going through difficult time in life I would like to be of help to them in their recovery process. There is no reason to have them uhappy if I cant make a wig to their expectations and add to their difficulties. Hence even if I have to lose an order I refuse to make wigs for such stubborn, difficult & hard to please clients.

In such cases I only charge the consultation fee & request the client to look for some other alternative.

Refusing to accept the client's order is completely at my discretion.

About Allure Hair and customer care

Please note that the main business of Allure Hair & Yatin Deshpande is working for the media & entertainment industry. That work is always given first priority. Appointments are given to clients only if time can be spared from the media & entertainment industry commitments. It is very likely that clients seeking appointment for making wigs for hairloss due to medical reasons or requiring any other products may have to call a few times to fix a suitable time. I request clients to have patience while fixing appointments. I do not pretend to be busy just to show off & will give appointment at the first available opportunity. Once client has made the payment, the delivery is given on the date assured without any delay.

Allure Hair is owned by me Yatin Deshpande and I run this business by myself. That's it. It's just me alone & no one else. I personally answer all phone calls made by clients as I feel that due to my expertise and experience in this business I am the best person to answer the clients by understanding their requirements, after they have paid the consultation fee in advance.

I have experienced, skilled staff who look after the manufacturing process but I answer all client phone calls personally, go through the emails, client photographs, and most importantly look after the quality control of every item produced by Allure Hair.

Because as humans, there is only so much I can do in a day so please bear with me. Based on the frequently asked questions by clients I update the information almost every week on the website, just in case something is not mentioned & needs to be updated.

In case clients are asked to refer to the website please do not interpret it as being rude or unfriendly to clients. Please co -operate by reading all information given on the website. In case there is something that you want to know which is not mentioned on the website then please send an e-mail. I shall try to respond & help you during the consultation.

Please be aware that if you need a phone consultation or an email consultation there is only one person handling it. Phone consultations take long, so while one customer is getting one to one service, the other person calling few times doesn't get a chance to speak to me at all. Since I started the website, business has grown, and though I try to give everyone satisfactory customer service, even if that means talking on the phone for half an hour, consulting a customer on a wig with even those customers who clearly knew the answers to their questions, but just wanted to hear them from me personally.

We require old photographs of the clients before the hair loss started along with present photographs to get an idea of their hairline, style, color etc. if they want a similar look for the wig. Otherwise they can download & send a reference photo of someone else if they want a different look so that we can give them an estimate only after payment of consultation fees.

If send you an email and do not get a response immediately please be patient. I try to answer emails within one business day, but sometimes it takes me a few extra days to respond. I am a Make up artist & Hair stylist working for advertising assignments also. If you haven't received a response after three to four days, then the possibility is that I may be busy withan advertising assignment or on an outdoor location where I have no internet access. The other reason is most probably that your email provider has sent our response to your spam mailbox. Please make sure your email settings are configured to allow mail from Allure Hair.

Why should you buy from Allure Hair?

The main reasons why you should buy from us

Simply because, Allure Hair sells quality.

What makes Allure Hair different from a lot of others who deal in wigs, hair extensions and hair replacement systems is that we are actual wig makers & designers. We are NOT traders.

All our products are made in-house. We do not order pre-manufactured wigs, hair pieces & hair systems and try to alter them to match the heads of our clients. We make our wigs and hairpieces from the begining to end by buying raw hair, washing, conditioning, sizing by length, colour, texture and quality. We take measurements of the client's head , use old photos of their hairline to customize them to fit the head perfectly.

Wig making is a complicated process that requires the skills of a tailor, wigmaker, barber/ hair stylist, hair colorist—which are all separate trades. We have mastered it through years of experience.

Our wigs are removable, you can put them on and take them off as often as you wish which is very convenient for clients undergoing medical treatment for hair loss or for clients who frequently exercise and need to wash their own hair. You can regain a full head of hair with our custom-made hair systems, without the risks and high costs of surgery. Our systems are custom made and fitted, to flawlessly merge into your natural hair for partial hairloss. These wigs are individually hand crafted to fit the head size, can be worn comfortably & look natural by men, women, children of all ages.

Allure Hair is not a chain or franchise but an owner managed business. There are no sales target driven hard selling sales persons to talk to. All prices are discussed up front during the consultation and there are no hidden costs. There is no need to hike up our prices to subsidize expensive advertising campaigns. Unlike the large hair replacement studios who charge high prices due to their high overheads, advertising costs and fancy brochures, we just stick with the essentials. Due to our low overhead costs, we manage to keep our prices in check.

Allure Hair does business in a very clean & transparent way & is not a part of the corrupt practices that are very common in the medical & healthcare sector.

Yatin Deshpande does not pay commission or is a part of cut-practice business, which is practiced under different names such as split fee’ and sharing fee or referral fee to anyone. For me, the patient comes first and I decided to rely on word of mouth instead of offering kickbacks. This is nothing but corruption and bribery. The medical profession is losing its credibility and legitimacy with most doctors a prey to this moral decline. Many doctors no longer identify with the tag of a noble profession and the unselfish sentiments of serving humanity.

Today in society honesty is considered a weakness and not respected. According to Yatin, the patient / client should be the brand ambassador of Allure Hair. Hence in spite of doing good quality work consistently for so many years Allure Hair is very rarely recommended by hospitals or medical practitioners. Our name is hardly ever included in the list of wigmakers provided by hospitals / doctors.

Quite simply, it means doctors send patients to those that give out maximum commissions, or give them the highest cuts, or that will send them maximum referral fees, irrespective of the quality of the product or service. It is the patient who ends up paying extra money to cover for the kickbacks. Patients end up paying almost 20–50 per cent more than actual price due to this practice.

Most people now are searching online to find good products / services, but commissions play a big role even on online healthcare sector. Product manufacturers / service providers usually have to buy a registration package with such online portals to ensure that their names appear at the top of the list during a search. Another service these platforms offer is that they give the contact details of the patients/clients who are searching and give a lead by sharing the number with the registered vendor first, so they can convert the patient to a potential client into an actual client before anyone else does.

Even the reviews and ratings are managed by social media marketing companies to influence the potential buyer’s decision.

I believe that every good business spreads by word of mouth, which is why I leave it to our satisfied customers to recommend us and help our business grow. Allure Hair has grown and gained good reputation through word of mouth publicity by our clients. It is something which I am immensely proud of.

Allure Hair is unique as it doesn't compete with barbers, hairstylists, or volume wig manufacturers. Yatin oversees all the work at Allure Hair personally, from the client consultation, design, knotting plans, fittings, to the cutting, styling and coloring of the finished product. Yatin's philosophy is simple, “I am a perfectionist and my goal is to be the best in my field, not the biggest in terms of sales and turnover. Hence Allure Hair makes only a limited number of pieces every month. I realized that by increasing production facilities and having a large staff could not meet my stringent quality demands. It is important to spend time listening to clients to understand their requirements. I do not just want to meet client's expectations but aim to exceed them. There's nothing better than seeing clients happy. This philosophy ultimately continues to produce, the best results for clients: lightweight, undetectable, and meticulously designed hairpieces. Allure Hair has a team of very experienced wigmakers, which enables to undertake a wide range of work, giving great attention to detail and maintaining high standards of craftsmanship.

Allure Hair is located only in Mumbai in India but clients that place orders from across, Australia, Africa, South America, Canada, the U.S., the U.K.. Since Yatin has been in hair & make up business for thirty years (since 1987), Allure Hair is recognized as the premier location for wigs and hair pieces. It is obvious that cutting corners and cheap hair or cheap workmanship are simply NOT part of his mindset. Due to his experience of working in the media and entertainment business Yatin has the expertise for wig styling as well. Not every salon based stylist can do that. Wigs also need to be styled perfectly. It is very hard to find a good hair stylist for wigs. They are very different from regular hair. Wigs have to be styled and fitted to the person. We have heard plenty stories about how hairstylists lacking the necessary skills have ruined clients’ expensive wigs.

Allure Hair makes wigs from Indian hair because for it’s much easier to source it in India. This hair is available in three shades of Dark Brown, Brown, & light brown shades only. However it is harder to color dark brown or jet black hair to a lighter shade. Coloring dark hair to blonde is almost impossible without seriously damaging the hair. Hence if someone requires lighter hair color then you can get the wig made from us & have it colored from your salon or colorist to your specific requirement.

Caution, Be Alert.

Allure Hair stands absolutely by our product authenticity and quality and we are proud to guarantee everything we sell.  The human hair extensions and wig industry is unregulated & it is flooded with counterfeit products and fake human hair extensions and wigs because many fraudulent manufacturers disregard packaging regulations by falsely "labelling" their products as "100% Human Hair" or "Remy Hair" etc.. When purchasing, what you may be thinking as authentic high grade hair extensions is certainly not authentic and you will be helping the counterfeiters and purchasing sub-standard products. It is hard to trust the description on the pack you buy hair extensions in.

"Buyers- Beware"

Do not waste your money on cheap wigs. Although the price may be tempting, you will only get what you pay for. All custom wigs are not created equal. Inferior wigs available in the market often shed hair, easily tangle and tear at the base plus wear out at the hairline. Many cheap readymade wigs are mass produced by inexperienced unskilled wigmakers as opposed to being crafted by highly skilled experienced wig makers who hand tie each individual hair strand to the wig base.Such type of cheap wigs requires repeated refilling of hair as the density of the hair reduces after use due to shedding of hair due to incorrect knotting or breakage of hair due to tangling and the net base becomes visible. Refilling of hair repeatedly means spending money again & again for maintainence. So effectively such wigs tend to cost more in the long run. This cost is not considered when buying a wig which may be cheaper initially but you end up paying more during the period of use. A well-crafted custom made wig like the type we make usually takes 40 to 100 hours ( four to eight working days ) for one person to make and takes the donor years to grow the hair used in these wigs.

Don't get confused with a lot of technical jargon or words which are used while talking and are difficult for a normal person to understand. Some wig sellers, hair replacement clinics and stylists invent terminology to apply to a particular technique with which they make their wigs, hair replacement systems. These words can make them sound more advanced and innovative and give them more legitimacy and respectability to an unsuspecting hair loss client.

Maybe their "latest" - "cutting edge" - "best" - "innovative" - "unique" techniques do a fine job, but does it make them better or different in any way than other products available?

Often, these terms are fads and marketing tools to attract unsuspecting and novice patients. When you hear a term mentioned that you have never heard before, or is unique to a particular clinic do not hesitate to ask what it means in simple terms. We caution you on firms that use a lot of fancy procedural terms that might only be synonyms for techniques that are routine or similar every other technique. Ask yourself, if this is latest, greatest technique a sales tool, or is it a unique method to how this company makes their hair products.

Be cautious where you get your information from. There is a lot of one-sided advertorial-like "research" and "reports" which are cleverly disguised marketing tools. They disguise themselves under simple sounding associations, journals and educational websites which are nothing more then a platform to market specific products or clinic.
Many of the anti wigs, hair extensions & hair replacement system reports are controlled by those who are hoping to sell you an alternative type hair loss treatment or hair replacement method.

So please be well informed and make the right choice.

Appointment & Punctuality

Please respect my time and be punctual for your appointment. Late comers are sent back.

Punctuality is very important and a part of being well-mannered and respectful of the other person's time. If you are someone who is punctually challenged and struggles to reach on time, manages to get away by giving excuses, apologizing and explaining why you're late, just forget it. I do not tolerate latecomers. People's notion of self-importance has grown too much and with it general courtesy, awareness & value of other person's time has decreased considerably. I value your time and ensure that you are not kept waiting. I am always on time so do not hope that there will be delay from my side so you can turn up late. I work as per IST ( Indian Standard Time) & DEFINITELY NOT Indian Stretchable Time. Being on time is ALWAYS in fashion with me so those who have issues with being punctual should find alternative service provider. I am not the right person for them.

Your appointment is scheduled to allow sufficient time for consultation or to complete your service.

Please do not call just before your appointment to inform that you are going to be late.

Please anticipate traffic delays in Mumbai and start well in time. In case you are not sure about the time generally required to reach us from your location please enquire with us.

I am caring, and respect your privacy hence we make sure that there are no other clients around by spacing out appointments as normally people who suffer from hair loss due to medical conditions need privacy.

I value your time, hence to ensure that you are not kept waiting.

All services and consultations, are by appointment only from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.( Indian Standard Time) only after the consultation fee is pain in advance.

Please call during working hours atleast 24 hours before, to fix your appointment. For appointments over the weekend you may have to fix it atleast 3 days prior as there are more clients over the weekend.

Please be considerate and do not send text messages before or after business hours.

Cancellation of Appointment

I require notice 24 hours notice for cancellation of appointments for all services. Please inform us in advance to reschedule your appointment. In case a client does not inform and then we charge appointment fee in advance before we reschedule the next appointment.

Consultation for Wigs

A wig consultation takes around 30-45 minutes. During the consultation after understanding your requirements, we show samples of wigs which will suit your requirements, different types of hair texures, net bases for you to review it. We recommend the correct option for you.
The options for all wigs involve – selecting your preferred: Hair Color, Hair length, Hair Texture, Density, type of hair parting.

Consultation for Hair Replacement

A Hair Replacement consultation takes around 30-45 minutes. During this time we will discuss in depth the various type of hair replacement systems available and the system that would benefit you as the client individually, based on the type and degree of hair loss.
We also need to establish the suitability of each system as well as your personal requirements and the result you wish to achieve after the restoration process.

Consultation for Hair Extensions

A Hair Extension consultation takes around 30-45 minutes. During this time we will analyse your hair and scalp to see if you are suitable for hair extensions. We will discuss application options available, determine what length, color and style you require and what result you want to achieve after the application process. Hair extension details will be discussed more in depth during the consultation appointment.

Long distance Consultations

I prefer to meet our clients in person but those who stay out of Mumbai or cannot travel to us we suggest to send measurements, photographs by e-mail, courier or by post, of their hair loss and provide details of their diagnosed condition. We do not think that a full consultation can be done by email / photographs / telephone. However it can only be used as a guide for understanding of your wig / hair replacement needs, but it still can not replace a face to face consultation with Yatin.

Please note Allure Hair is not responsible for client's perception of the wigs, hair extensions & hair replacement systems based on photographs or by reading on our website.

Wig Trials are not provided during Consultation

Due to our strict health & hygiene standards, we DO NOT allow clients to try on wigs made for others on their head.

We only show samples of the different type wigs we make. We do not have wigs of different types and sizes for clients to wear and try on their own head during consultation.

We will fit the sample wigs only on the wodden dummy heads and not on the clients own head.

Since it is preferred and requested by clients that they do not receive someone else's used item, this policy is necessary to ensure the best quality of your purchase. All purchases from us have not been worn or tried on someone else prior to you receiving them.

Consultation & refusing the client's order

Refusing to accept a client's order is completely at my discretion.

During the consultation there are many instances when client's demands or expectations about a wig or any other product that we make are not practical, unrealistic and cannot be achieved due to various reasons, inspite of my expertise & years of experience to make good wigs or any other products I make.

It is difficult to make them understand the limitations of wigs or the time & efforts that they have to put in to maintain & style to look like their dream wig. I try to explain to them that they have to adjust & lower their expectations.

I do feel bad at times when I refuse to accept the client's order especially if they are Cancer patients & they are going through a difficult time. I have a simple thought process that as the cancer patients are going through difficult time in life I would like to be of help to them in their recovery process. There is no reason to have them uhappy if I cant make a wig to their expectations and add to their difficulties.

Another reason is that irrespective of the fact that I may have suggested things about the wig design due to my years of experience in wigmaking during consultation, clients insist on making what they want as per their desire ignoring my suggestions. After I have made the wig & they face problems while wearing or maintaining it. They expect me to replace & provide a new wig for them. In such cases the whole world's sympathy is towards the patient because they are undergoing Cancer treatment & I am supposed to be considerate irrespective of them ignoring my recommendation.

I refuse to accept their order to avoid any problem later on after the wig is made and client asking for a refund or make a new wig. Hence even if I have to lose an order I refuse to make wigs of difficult, stubborn & hard to please clients.

In such cases I only charge the consultation fee & request the client to look for some other alternative to make their wig.

Mobile Phones

Turn the mobile phone off before entering our premises.

Just in case you are expecting a phone call from the President of USA or Her Royal Highness the Queen of England or the Prime Minister of India please complete all your phone calls before you enter our premises or attend to them after your consultation is over.

The use of mobile phones by clients within our premises is strictly prohibited. Modern Technology and good manners are extremely compatible. Impolite cellphone use is out of control presently. Please respect the personal space of other people and do not force us to overhear your conversations.

Don’t answer or make calls or text or respond to text messages, Whats App during consultation. It is highly disruptive and distracting to me while I am at work during consultation or service. It disturbs my concentration & I do not want interruptions as majority of your callers do not require immediate access and can be attended to after the appointment is over.

Allure Hair reserves the right to refuse customers without assigning any reasons.

Hair Preparation before taking measurements

Measure the head 2-3 times to obtain very accurate measurements. You may ask different individuals to do it and then compare the results.

Use a soft measuring tape. In case, you do not have a soft measuring tape use, ribbon or thread. Cut it to the measure then lay it on a scale to get the measurements.

Before you start pin hair as flat and as tight as possible before taking the measurements. Style or braid your hair the way you plan to wear it under the wig before taking head measurements. This will eliminate bulges that distort head contours & ensure proper fit.

If you have existing hair, style your own hair as it would be under the wig, when its attached. In order to get the most accurate measurements, either braid your hair all back into flat cornrows along the scalp or braid the hair in a flat beehive, or wrap is back in a flat tight ponytail.

Hair Length styling guide. If your hair length is

2” or less: Gel Flat under a wig cap

3 – 6”: braided fine all back

6” or more: braided in a circle beehive style to avoid bulging at the back or at any one place.

Make sure to get your hair as flat as possible before taking measurements. This will eliminate bulges that distort head shape. Remember to press firmly against the scalp and measure from where your natural hair line should be.

Head measurements ( Six Measurements )

1.Circumference or Perimeter

Around head will measure the perimeter of your head. Starting at the center of the front hairline, place the measuring tape flat against your head and completely guide it around your head. Position the measuring tape just at the ear, down below the occipital bone ( the occipital bone is the small protruding bump at the base of the skull ), towards the nape area and back around to the center of the front hairline.

Measure in centimeters.

2. Front to back

This measures the length of your head from the front at the forehead to the nape of your neck. The nape is located where your neck bends if you were to tilt your head back and look up. This is also, where the bottom of the wig should sit to prevent shifting when the head tilts back. Start at the front of hairline, measure across the top of your head to the nape area.

Measure in centimeters.

3. Ear to ear over crown

This measures your head for the top of the wig base. Place the measuring tape against your head at the top edge of your ear and measure directly across the top of your head to the top edge of the opposite ear.

Measure in centimeters.

4. Temple to temple around back of head

Place the measuring tape at the temple area and guide it along the back of your head until reaching the other temple area on the opposite side. For this measurement, it is extremely important to wear your hair exactly how you plan to wear it under the wig! This will reduce the chance of your wig not fitting properly.

Measure in centimeters.

5. Temple to temple across the forehead

Temple to temple across the forehead.

Measure in centimeters

6. Nape of neck

Place the measuring tape at the lowest point of your neck at the hairline and measure across the neck to the opposite side. This will measure the width of your hairline at the neck.

Measure in centimeters.

Hair Sample:

If you would like an exact match to your hair. I will need a hair sample. I will try to match it from the hair I have in stock.
Sample Instructions:
• Cut a piece of the hair to be matched at least ½ inch wide and 4-6” long. Enough hair must be in the sample to be able to determine its actual color.
• To match a wig to your own hair color: Cut the piece of hair from an area that best represents your “overall” hair color. This area is usually in the upper layers, outer ends of your hair. YOU WOULD NOT FIND your best “over-all” color match, for example, at the hairline on your neck (nape). This area is usually darker in color, than your “over-all” hair color.
• Please tape the hair sample to a letter size sheet of paper. This paper has to include: Your name, address, phone number and e-mail address also let us know which wig/hairpiece style selection you are considering.

Hair Density

Hair Density is often difficult to gauge from photos and a lot depends on your hair length, how srtaight, wavy, curly it is, how dark it is, the lighting, etc.

Whenever clients are not sure of the hair density required in their wig & leave it to our discretion to make the wig then the wig is always made with a 100% density as shown in the density chart. If a wig is made too dense as per order & the client is uncomfortable with the amount of hair in the wig, the hair density cannot be reduced. Hair knotted in a wig net base cannot be removed. If the client finds that the hair density is less then it can always be increased by adding more hair after the wig is ready on payment of extra cost for increasing the hair density. We always make wigs with lesser density and allow the client to decide if they want more hair in the wig. This is an easier option in our opinion as a wig does not get wasted.

Hair Density describes how much hair strands are knotted in the wig base. Most customers prefer Light to meduim and meduim density.
Extra light density is 50% thickness of an average head of hair
Light density is 80% thickness of an average head of hair.
Light to medium density is considered 100% thickness of an average head of hair. ( Normal Density on a human head. Most wigs are made with this density. )
Medium density is considered 130% thickness of an average head of hair. (This is thick).
Medium to heavy density is considered 150% thickness of an average head of hair. (This is very thick.)
Heavy density is 180% thickness of an average head of hair. (This is very, very thick).

Hair Topper / Partial wig / 3/4 cap wig

What is a Topper & how is it different than a Wig?

Allure Hair Toppers, Clip-In Top Volumizer, Top hair pieces, partial wigs, crown toppers, hair add-ons & wiglets are suitable hair alternative for those hair loss, clients who wish to disguise thinning areas or loss of hair on the crown, while enhancing their hair style to add volume, fullness and/or increase hair length.
Our custom made toppers and top pieces are perfect solutions for various beginning stages of hair loss or for those who just want to add fullness to the top / crown area of their head.

A topper or a top hairpiece is a partial wig that is designed to give coverage, add volume and thickness to your own hair.
It is used by people with thinning hair, bald spots, or if you just need to add volume to your existing hair.
A full cap wig covers the complete scalp over the naturally growing hair entirely, whereas a topper hair piece is blended with your own hair. Hair extensions and Hairpieces can do just that. There are many different types of hairpieces and hair extensions that we make. Many hair extensions made with multiple pieces that can be specifically placed depending on where more volume or hair length is required. But when the hair loss is in the front or on top or on the crown area a hair topper is needed.
A topper is also referred to as a half wig or top piece or Clip-In Top Volumizer or Top hair pieces or partial wigs or crown toppers or hair add-ons or wiglet.

Hair toppers vary in size, depending on the coverage you need – there are toppers that are only 2 by 4 inches and placed on top of your hair parting, and there are toppers that are as large as 8 x 9 inches and cover up your entire crown area.
The topper is attached to your own hair with clips, and your own hair is left loose below it in addition to the hair on the topper.
It is a perfect solution for ladies with gradual hair loss, hair thinning, androgenetic alopecia, and ladies with bald spots (alopecia areata).

Toppers look far more natural than wigs provided it is properly blended with your own hair and is made well, with a realistic looking scalp. Wigs can appear to be dense with too much hair but the substantially lesser amount of hair on a topper avoids that completely.
Wearing a topper means only part of your head is covered, and they are lightweight and breathable than a full wig.
Depending on the size of the topper, you can wear your hair in a very natural looking ponytail, bun, or other hairstyle.
The smaller the topper, the higher the ponytail can be.
Wearing a ponytail with a wig is not possible – it’s too bulky with too much hair, doesn’t look realistic, and may show at the nape of your neck.
In order for the topper to look natural, it needs to exactly match the color and texture of your own hair.
If the color does not match, in order to accurately match color to your own hair you will have to color your hair to match the topper.
If your hair loss is concentrated in the front, like many women with androgenetic alopecia,
it can be difficult to find an area on your front hairline to attach the clips.
In this case, bonding ( sticking with glue or double sided tape) the topper to the front of your head is the other option. Even if you don't have hair loss, but want to add hair volume, color or length, a topper can be just the choice.
Some womens top hair pieces add volume in the area where you partition your hair, while others give more coverage in the crown area. Some customized styles add add length and volume to the sides and at the back of the head.
The clip on topper hair pieces are very natural looking can be attached very quickly.

However, for hair loss that is too much , we suggest a full cap monofilament wig instead of a top hair piece.

Frequently asked questions about Wigs & Hair pieces

Important Facts about Hair used for making wigs

Natural human hair used for wig making or extensions is available in many varieties, looks the most natural and is the best option. The major advantage of natural hair is that it can be treated and maintained just as you would maintain your own hair. But it does have a tendency to tangle together only if not cared for properly. The cost varies according to quality of the hair.

Remi or Remy hair:

This type of hair that has its cuticle intact and has been partially hand processed to maintain root tip alignment. The cuticle layers are all facing the same direction from root to end just like your natural hair and, therefore, do not tangle. This hair is more expensive but will remain in good condition for much longer than decuticlized hair. This also ensures that the wigs/ extensions behave exactly like your own hair, blending in perfectly with your own hair and looking natural. It can also be heat styled and colored to match to your own hair colour or highlighted / low lighted easily.

The majority of ready to wear machine-made human hair wigs are mostly made in China. They are made of hair which is chemically stripped of its cuticle so that it can be machine processed without concern about hair direction or root end alignment. They are not made from virgin hair with cuticle intact and in same direction. If the cuticle is left and the roots ends alignment mixed up, the scales on the cuticle would oppose and pull each other causing tangling. To avoid this it is necessary to process the hair with strong chemical treatment to destroy and strip it of its cuticle layer, leaving it thin and fragile.

All wigs ,Hair extensions and hair replacement systems made by Allure Hair are made with natural virgin hair with cuticle intact and in same direction.

As human hair shades differ, to match the color or to get the required lighter shades the color is stripped and then it is recolored usually using fabric dyes and not professional hair color that is uesd in salons. The hair is covered with a silicon layer which gives it a healthy shiny look and softer texture. Initially the hair seems shiny and beautiful, but after a few washes the silicon layer starts to wash away and the hair becomes dull and brittle again, thus resulting in tangling, discomfort, and breakage of hair. The negative effects of stripping off the cuticle are brittleness, reduced protection from sunlight, dryness, salt, chlorine and pollution as well as a tendency to absorb liquids, swell or matt. It is not advisable to colour or heat style this hair. Due to the chemical processes the hair has already gone through, using any chemical on it will cause the hair to disintegrate and fall apart. It is not possible for common people to make out if the hair is of this type with the naked eye.

Remy hair is of Indian origin collected from various temples in India, where people go and offer their hair to God in reverence. The specialty of this hair is that when the hair is cut/ shaved from the devotees head, they are cut in a pony tail or braided form thus keeping all the cuticles in the same direction. The Remy hair when used properly in hair ventilation of hair pieces or on a weft do not tangle and have a smooth feeling when you run your finger from top to bottom. This is hair that does NOT go through an acid bath. Because it still has the cuticle on it is stronger than regular hair used in hair pieces

Single Drawn and Double drawn Hair

The hair quality is determined by the percentage full length strands available in bunch of hair. Average quality hair that is 18 inches [45cm] long may have 20% of the strands measuring 18 inches [45cm] a further 40% measuring from 14-16 inches [35-40cm] and the other 40% measuring 6-12 inches [15-30cm] All the hair of premium or superior grades are in fact full length, meaning each strand is exactly the stated length and the thickness is equal at the root and the ends.

Remy Hair Single Drawn

This type of Remy Hair is bunched directly from the scalp by shaving the head. Care is taken to remove the very short hair, with the longer hair, found in different hair length, giving a pony tail like appearance. The hair will have 3" difference in the roots to ends that is some hair in a piece will be 3" shorter than the original length.

Remy double drawn

This means only hair of the same length. For example: a hair piece of 20 inches of Remi quality and double drawn has hair lengths of 20" only. It contains all hair of the same length no hair shorter than that. Premium quality hair extensions are made from hair strands that are all approximately the same length so the thickness of the hair should be the same all the way down its length. This is rare and expensive; such hair is called full length Double drawn hair.

Non Remi Hair

The cuticles are present in different directions and the hair is prone to tangling and breakage during detangling due to this.

Tangle free hair

This is the most commonly sold hair in the world as human hair. Hair is chemically stripped of its cuticle so that it can be machine processed without concern about direction or root end alignment. If the cuticle is left but the roots ends alignment mixed up, the scales that form the cuticle would oppose and pull on each other causing tangling. Because of the different directions the hair is lying in it is necessary to process it with strong chemical treatment to strip it of its cuticle layer and prevent it from tangling.

Chemical treatment is required for such hair in order to thin it out and give it a softer texture; this mixed hair undergoes an aggressive chemical treatment that destroys the hair cuticle layer, leaving it thin and fragile. The hair is covered with a silicon layer which gives it a healthy shiny look. Initially the hair seems shiny and beautiful, but after a few washes the silicone layer starts to wash away and the hair becomes dull and brittle again, thus resulting in tangling, discomfort, and breakage of hair. This type of hair without cuticle is known as tangle free Non remi hair.

Asian human hair is very dark so to get the required lighter shades the color is stripped and then it is recolored usually using fabric dyes not professional hair color. This means that if you want light hair it has gone through a massive chemical process to get to that color. Due to the chemical processes the hair has already gone through, putting hair color on top of it will cause the hair to disintegrate and fall apart. So, if you use any of these qualities of hair make sure you are certain you have chosen the right color or color blend as you will not be able to change the color later.

The negative effects of stripping off the cuticle are brittleness, reduced protection from sunlight, dryness, salt, chlorine and pollution as well as a tendency to absorb liquids, swell or matt. It is not advisable to colour or heat style this hair.

Wig Making

People have little or no knowledge about wigs or hair replacement systems especially if they are first time wearers so we make an effort to be as helpful by giving more information.

Creating a wig or hair replacement system is a highly skilled art. This is an art where the artist cannot show off but has to conceal his artistic skill without letting others know the secret behind the flawless hair. It should look natural and not like anything other than the head of hair you should have had.

Generally the view about the word wig is not a very positive one. I would rather refer to it as Aternative Hair or Hair Solutions or even Fashion Hair if it is for non medical hairloss.

Many wigmakers advertise the term 'Medical Wigs'. In fact, there are no such wigs. Wigs for medical hair loss are those wigs which give the most natural and comfortable solutions for daily wear. They are not made by a specific brand or have a price range. You should choose your wig based on your personal preference and what makes you feel the most comfortable.

However, some wigs work better for sensitive scalp due to chemotherapy or hair loss. All monofilament top wigs have soft caps, are lightweight and well ventilated making them appropriate choices for medical hair loss patients for long hours of daily wear. For people with extremely sensitive scalps, 100% hand-tied wigs are the most comfortable because they do not have wefts, therefore there are very few seams to irritate the scalp. Only through constant research and personal experience have we compiled information of wigs to be used by clients with hair loss due to cancer and alopecia. We take constant feedback from clients. This client feedback allows us to learn and improve from their experiences.

A good wig, requires a proper design, and does not necessarily need to have a lot of hair. Less density of hair gives more natural appearance. Too much hair can detract from the naturalness of any wig, hair replacement system or restoration method. So in replicating the growth and density of natural hair exactly as you find with naturally occurring hair a naturally contoured hairline that begins with irregularly spaced hair increasing in density as the hairline progresses, visible scalp beneath the hair, from the hairline through the crown has to be made. A flow and bounce to the hair that allows directional movement of the hair for unlimited styling options. So if you have a dense wig with too much hair emerging from the front it is going to look artificial.

This is an easier option in our opinion as a wig does not get used by the client hence wasted.

A Wig for hair loss due to Alopecia, Chemotherapy, and Radiation should be

Custom made to give natural appearance and get the perfect fit

Very light weight, breathable and allow air ventilation.

Easily washable for hygienic reasons, without tangling of hair.

Comfortable & not exert pressure on any area of the head in spite of prolonged use.

Keep in mind that a wig cannot replicate the way your hair blends into your skin. It surely does in movies and on television, but that requires a great deal of time and trained professionals to look after it full time to keep it looking that way.

Choose a wig style that works for you

A wig can help you feel most like yourself. Mostly people choose a style and color that are similar to their natural hair, while few others take this opportunity to experiment with a new look. There are several things to consider when choosing a wig, such as style, hair length, face shape – as well as lifestyle. These are all important factors in finding that perfect style. But please note that style should come only after practicality.

Consider your lifestyle

What does your typical day involve? Will you be wearing your wig every day, or only occasionally? These questions, as well as others concerning your work, recreational and social activity, may affect which style you choose. Be sure to keep your typical daily or weekly activities in mind as you choose wigs. The three main items needed to make a wig are the net base on which the hair is knotted, the hair and accessories. You will need to determine what type of net base will suit your lifestyle and your skin as well. The weather conditions where you live will have to be taken into account when ordering your wig. Keep in mind also how much time you can give on maintaining your wig.

Customizing your style

Before wearing your wig for the first time, take it to your hairstylist and have them cut and style it to suit your face in case you have ordered it from a far away place. If you plan on coloring a human hair wig or add a few high lights, we recommend having your hair colorist do it.

Consider style length

As a rule, shorter styles are easiest to care for. Longer styles require a little more maintenance. A common mistake women make is choosing hair styles that are too long, which might not only be more work, but may overpower their features. Also remember that during treatment you may experience exhaustion, when you won’t want to fuss with your hair. The easier and more convenient your style is, the better off you’ll be.

Choose a color that flatters

Many women feel most comfortable selecting a shade that matches their natural hair color. To do so, we recommend looking at your hair and color samples together under natural light to determine which color most closely resembles your own.
On the other hand, you certainly don’t have to choose a color identical to your own. Try going just a shade lighter or warmer than your natural color to brighten your features. You can also choose styles with highlights that feature a subtle blending of shades for added depth and dimension.

The aim is to find a shade that complements your skin tone and brings out your natural color. A mistake many women make is choosing a color that’s too dark, especially given changes in skin color that occur during treatment. When in doubt, go a shade lighter. Your hair stylist can help you determine which shade works best for you.

Color Selections

Various differences in computer monitor screen quality and resolution may make colors appear different than they actually are. If you are in need of color assistance, we highly recommend you call us so we can help blend the wig or hairpiece color to your hair color. We take no responsibility for color selections made by customers during the order process. We assume you know the color you need and will process your order as such unless you ask for advice.

What is the difference between machine-made and hand-made hairpieces?

The main difference between a handmade wigs made of natural virgin hair with cuticle intact and in same direction, and one that is machine made and bought off-the-shelf is the fit. If a wig does not fit right and exerts excessive pressure at certain points, the hair follicles at those points will be damaged permanently and hair will never grow back. So I recommend wigs that don't hold them tightly against the scalp. Very few people realize that everyone's head shape is very different and sizes vary considerably.

Machine-made wigs are usually cheaper than hand-made pieces. In most styles the hair are machine sewn onto a “weft” in a fixed pattern. The wefts are then assembled together on an open net base. Generally this type of construction is worn by persons who have some hair, as you can see through the wefts when the wind blows.

Hand-made methods involve hand knotting on a net base or hand inserting into a custom molded base. Hand construction methods usually provide a more random and natural appearance. Most hand knotting or implantation process is tedious and very labor intensive. On some hairpieces, there are over 140,000 individual hair shafts that need to be inserted. There are a wide variety of price and appearance options. The way a wig is made affects how it looks just as much as the type of hair used.

There are three different types of wig constructions: custom made, hand-made ready to wear and machine-made.

Custom-made wigs are almost undetectable from natural hair. They are the usually the best viable option for hair loss patients, but they are expensive compared to readymade wigs and generally take from two / three weeks to a few months to complete.

Hand-made wigs look the most natural of the readymade choices because individual strands are knotted on to a net base rather than wefts of hair being sewn together. These wigs can be parted and styled with accessories because there is no chance the vents will be exposed. The hair also falls and moves more naturally.

Machine-made wigs are the least expensive and most widely available. Wefts of hair are sewn together in a straight line, cut and assembled into a wig. When you look inside a machine-made wig you can see the lines. Many look extremely realistic as long as they are not parted, pulled back or otherwise altered. Some people find these wigs more comfortable because the construction creates vents that allow air to circulate to the scalp.

How are hand made wigs or hair pieces constructed?

Hair is attached to the wig base with “ventilating needles.” Ventilating needles come in various sizes and have small hooks at the end designed to pull a specific number of hairs from the hair bundle and insert them into the base material.

The needles with the smallest hooks will pull one hair shaft at a time. Larger hooks can pull up to 6 hair shafts at a time. Single hair shaft knotting or implanting looks the most natural, and is also the most expensive. The single shaft method duplicates the pattern of growth hair and provides the most natural looking results. The multi-shaft implantation can be less expensive, but may be less natural looking, especially at the part line or crown. When hair is knotted the knotting varies over the surface of the base to duplicate that of growth hair on the scalp. Special techniques are often used at the front hairline and the nape of the neck depending on the style of the hairpiece.

Also, the more natural, the less durable, and vice versa. But with durability, you have to sacrifice some naturalness.

That is why our wigs / Hair System material is chosen to be perfect balance of the both.

We generally wait for at least a year before we start using any new product or material that is available. We do our own trials first and only when we are satisfied we use new products on our clients.

We make wigs/ hair replacement systems from clients own head moulds. The creation of a mould enables us to produce a perfect scalp fit, replicating the individuals contours and providing a 'second skin' comfort.

Natural look & Durable

Clients always ask the question “I want the most natural and most durable hair system, can you suggest one?”
I would like to explain that you cannot have it both ways. The most natural looking system cannot be durable as well and the most durable system may not look as natural as you would like it to be.
Why is it not possible to have both?
The more natural the hair system is, the thinner and more invisible the base. However, the net is so thin that it cannot last long, just about a 1 month’s lifespan or even lesser.
In case of a durable hairpiece you will notice that the polyurethane perimeter is thick and strong, which ensures long time use. The monofilament top is very strong.
So when choosing a hair system, you need to keep in mind: natural or durable, which one you prefer? You need to find a balance between natural look & durability.

How much time does it take to get delivery of a new wig?

We only make customized made to measure wigs on order. We do not have ready to wear wigs available in stock with us normally. However sometimes the sample pieces that we have may fit the clients requirement then we can give it to them immediately.

The making of a wig for a new client can take two or three visits to our place. We also make wigs without meeting the client personally if the client is not from Mumbai or cannot come to us due to health reasons. In such situation the measurements can be sent to us.

The first visit is for consultation when we show samples, understand client requirements, explain in detail and decide on the hairstyle, hair color, hair density etc.. At this time, we take accurate head measurements if the client wishes to place the order to make the wig.
The second visit is for wig fitting and delivery includes a 15-minutes wig fitting demonstration of how to wear the wig after it is ready. The wig will be fitted on the client & we show the client how to put it on and teach them with the appropriate method of attachment.

In case of cancer / chemotherapy patients who have not had hairloss we just have to hand over the wig and they will have to use it after their hairloss begins & they feel the need to use the wig.

The price not only includes any cutting and styling of the wig. We always request clients to use their own hairdresser to cut and style the wig as desired. the length of the hair on the wig is always left about an inch or so longer than what the client orders so that it is possible to cut it as desired.

We recommend that you get it color matched to your own hair by getting your stylist / colorist to color it exactly if you need.

If in case the client needs any change, addition to be done to the wig then additional visits may be required & the extra time will be charged for just like an appointment.

It is possible to produce a wig in extremely urgent circumstances of illness or distress in less than one week, but in most cases, it is best to give us around two weeks.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE WILL BE AN EXTRA CHARGE FOR ANY WORK REQUIRED WITHIN ONE or TWO WORKING WEEKS. This is only possible if we will able to complete the order depending upon the workload at that time.

I charge Rs.3,000/- (Rupees Three thousand only) which has to be paid in advance before the consultation to confirm the appointment. Clients are requested to book appointments & be punctual so that sufficient time can be given for the consultation to be carried out properly, with complete satisfaction to achieve the best results.

We are caring, and respect your privacy hence we make sure that there are no other clients around by spacing out appointments as normally people who suffer from hair loss due to medical conditions need privacy.

Due to our privacy policy and space constraints I strictly permit only one person to accompany patients within our premises.

How much does a wig cost?

As a matter of policy we do not give prices over the telephone without seeing the client or their photographs. The cost of the wig is discussed during consultation.

We require old photographs of the clients before the hair loss started along with present photographs to get an idea of their hairline, style, color etc. if they want a similar look for the wig. Otherwise they can send a reference photo of someone else if they want a different look so that we can give them an estimate.

The price of our custom made hand knotted full wig varies according to Cap size,Cap construction, Hair type (Indian hair, European hair, etc.),Hair length, Hair density and above all on how much intricate work has to be done. The more expensive the wig, the more lightweight, supple and well-fitting the cap, which moulds perfectly to the head. We work to a standard, not a price, and never make false promises that may not meet a clients reasonable expectations.

The less hair a wig has, the more time it takes to make than a dense hair wig. All our wigs are handmade with highest quality virgin human hair with cuticle intact and in same direction from root to end and, therefore, do not tangle. This type of hair is most expensive but will remain in good condition for much longer than decuticlized hair. It can also be heat styled and colored to match to your own hair color or highlighted / low lighted easily. We are able to offer color matching and can get hair in straight, curly or wavy forms and in varying degrees of thickness and texture.

The cost increases depending on the length, color and hair type, but there are no hidden extras and the basic price includes cutting and styling initially when you first take delivery of your wig and a second one within two weeks after that in case you want any minor changes. We do this because in order to get the exact cut the wig may be possibly cut too short. We prefer to leave the hair a little longer so you can get used to it and if needed trim it up later.I generally prefer to cut the wig on the clients own head as that gives a perfect idea about the final look. I assure all clients that I am conservative in my cutting and no one is used as a subject for my own artistic creations.

I charge Rs.3,000/- (Rupees Three thousand only) which has to be paid in advance before the consultation to confirm the appointment of the wig / hair replacement system , hair extensions or any other product that we make.

Washing, styling and color costs are given based on the type of wig. The wigs can be washed and conditioned regularly by following the guidelines. We offer a complete after-sales facility including the opportunity for the wigs to be brought to us for washing, styling, coloring and refilling of hair. We instruct the clients on how to wash their own wig at home and get the appropriate wig shampoo, conditioners, comb & brushes etc. to enable them to do this. Once we have made wig for a client, the details are on record and it is much easier to make further pieces. If you send us your used wig or hairpiece, we can make a similar piece if not an exact copy of it.

Caution – Do not waste your money on cheap wigs. Although the price may be tempting, you will only get what you pay for. Many cheap readymade wigs are mass produced by inexperienced unskilled wigmakers as opposed to being crafted by highly skilled experienced wig makers who hand tie each individual hair strand to the wig base. Such type of cheap wigs requires repeated refilling of hair as the density of the hair reduces after use due to shedding of hair due to incorrect knotting or breakage of hair due to tangling and the net base becomes visible. Refilling of hair repeatedly means incurring additional cost. So effectively such wigs tend to cost more in the long run. This cost is not considered when buying a wig which may be cheaper initially but you end paying more during the period of use. A well-crafted custom made wig like the type we make usually takes 40 to 100 hours( four to eight working days ) for one person to make and takes the donor years to grow the hair used in these wigs.

How many wigs / hairpieces do I need? OR Is one wig sufficient for me?

It is always necessary to have more than one wig / hairpiece especially for long term hair loss. In order to increase the life span of your wig, we suggest alternating between two wigs. Those who wear a wig daily for more than 6 to 10 hours should definitely have two wigs.

Factors such as sweating, pollution and humidity will determine the frequency of washing. Whenever you wash your wig it will take time to dry so you will need the second wig while the other one is washed, conditioned & dried before you can use it.

Sweat at the net base if not cleaned properly and bad hygiene can lead to skin problems like fungal infection of the scalp.

Sometimes an unforeseen situation may arise and cause problems that a professional will need to fix. A human hair wig generally loses hair & hair density is reduced at the parting line and crown area through the normal pressure of combing and brushing. Adding new hair to a hair piece may be necessary to restore its natural appearance. While it is being repaired, you will need an alternative wig / hairpiece to wear. When there is reduction in density of hair they require periodic refilling. Repair & refilling may take up to two to three weeks or sometimes even more.

Refilling of hair in the wig is necessary when the net base becomes visible as the density of the hair reduces after prolonged use due to breakage and shedding in six months or so or earlier due to incorrect use, washing &rough handling.

Your back-up wig / hairpiece will allow you to have peace of mind and feel comfortable in any situation.

Many clients prefer to alternate styles and colors – adding versatility to their wardrobes. Owning more than one wig can add fun and creativity while allowing you the freedom to change your look to match your mood as per the occasion.

How long will the wig last and does it come with any kind of warranty?

Allure Hair wigs / Hair System life span is dependant on customers own care, wear and other conditions out of our control after the client takes delivery.

There are estimates I can give but not guarantees. They are to help clients have realistic expectations of how long their wigs can be expected to last if they use it for full-time wear.

Full-time wear is defined here as a six day week of at least six to eight hours of continuous wear in a low-heat, smoke-free environment. These estimates assume that proper after care techniques as recommended by me are followed. However individual results may vary.

We know that some people get more useful wear out of this wig than indicated and some of you will get less. We have done our best to figure out what the average length of time it would be used. We want to provide our customers with a fair realistic idea of how much wear they can expect out of any of our product.

Our wigs are made to last for 12 months with regular wear. However, if clients don't take care of the wig or hair system, they won't last just like anything else. Our wigs do not come with any Warranty. Every piece is inspected carefully before sending to the client. As we have no control over the quality of care a client gives to the hair once the wig is in their hand. We cannot force clients to keep the hair clean, not to chemically process it or do anything damaging. We do guarantee that the base will not fray for a period of 6 months. If it does, we will repair it free of charge within that period. We fully back our products with our guarantee, but please remember that proper care helps to prolong the life you can expect from our wigs / Hair Systems. We do not offer any warranty for the results of a chemical service performed on a wig after purchase by your stylist / Colorist.

We have plenty of wigs with us which were made over 12 to 15 years ago which we still use for our own work in the media. These wigs are well looked after by us hence they last very long.

How can I be sure my wig will not move or fall off my head?

Your made to measure wig should fit you both comfortably and securely. When we make a wig which is made to measure this problem does not arise. Because everyone's head has a shape unique to that person, every wig is provided with elastic tabs that can be easily adjusted to conform to your head. Choosing a wig in your correct size when you are buying a readymade wig makes a big difference. When your wig fits correctly, it should not move or fall at all.

What is the correct method for fitting and removing my wig or hairpiece?

Place the hairpiece upside down so you can see the inside area at the nape facing away from you. You will see two stiffeners near the ear flap (the points that go in front of your ears). If necessary, the earflaps can be gently rounded inwards very slightly, so the cap edge always fits close to your temples.

You can use a wet cloth to dampen your scalp before you place it on your head this will allow the wig/ prosthesis to slide more easily into the correct position. Many people make this part of their daily routine. Wet and slide' is a proven method to ensure a good fit and avoid cap stretching.

Check that no hair has been pulled inside the cap along the perimeter.

Bend your head down into the cap, then lift your head and hair together. Hold the hair at each side above your ears to gently slide the cap into the correct position. Some hairpieces may need to be used on the head for a few times before they take the shape of your head. This really just depends on the shape of your head.

Look in a mirror or feel to check there's even spacing around each ear, and there's no space at the top or crown.

It is essential that the hairpiece is correctly positioned when you have it styled. We recommend some practice fittings at home before your styling appointment, so there's no risk of fringes or bangs being cut too short because the prosthesis wasn't fitted correctly ( if you are getting it styled by your stylist).

To remove, slide a small finger under the cap edge above or behind each ear. Lift the hairpiece off your head. Do not put your finger in under the front hairline (you'll stretch it!) or under the nape edge (this could tear the cap above the ears!).

Remember to be gentle with your prosthesis we want you to use it for as long as possible.

Will the wig be uncomfortable?

A custom made wig is never uncomfortable. Wearing a new wig is like wearing a new pair of shoes, once you’ve worn it a few times in the house, it becomes much more comfortable as the wig takes the shape of your own head you get used to wearing it. Patience is required to get used to the with the process; Keep in mind that you are putting something new on your head that will take some time getting used to. It may feel hot or itchy depending on what the base of the cap is made of.

I have noticed short hair of 2-3 inches at the net base. What are these short hair on my wig?

All hand knotted wigs made by Allure Hair have 2-3 inches of folded hair to make the hair knot to tie the hair firmly to the net base. This does not indicate any manufacturing defect or that short hair has been used in the wig. When the hair is knotted to the net base while making the wig it is necessary to fold it to create a loop to hold the hair in the knotting needle. This allows to pull the hair strand through the net (lace) hole and make the knot to tie the hair strand firmly. This is done by folding the hair strand at the top of the length of hair towards the root. When the cuticle is intact on the hair the fold (return) is of about 2-3 inches or somewhere around that length generally.
The folded hair may stand up and poke out of the knotted hair like a lot of regrowth or broken hair in some cases. This happens frequently in new wigs and it is unavoidable. It is a condition that looks odd & unnatural. This is generally a problem with thick, coarse hair as the return hair are not fine and soft enough to fall flat.

When using high quality Indian human hair like we use, this is not an issue as the hair is finer and softer and lies flat without raising. All you have to do is make the hair to lie flat, either by spraying the hair with water, shaping the hair and allowing it to dry, or by using a warm curling or flat iron to smooth the hair down. Usually the hair will lie flat with little use.

Why do I notice tangling at the back of the wig?

Tangling at the back of the wig is usually caused due to the friction of the hair against other objects such as your dress collar, jewellery in the neck, leaning against the sofa, a chair, a head rest in a car, or against a pillow. The friction causes the human hair damage which will eventually cause it to tangle. To help to prevent the tangling, be sure to brush out all of the tangles before washing. Apply a conditioner or detangling solution to the hair after washing and be sure to rinse well. The use of a satin pillow case will help to reduce the damage to the back of the wig. If you find that you are leaning against a sofa or chair, it might be helpful to place a satin cover on the back of the sofa or chair.

When should I order my wig if I am going to lose my hair because of treatment ?

Losing hair from your head, face, or body can be hard to accept. Feeling angry or depressed is common and perfectly all right. Because hair loss is such an emotional experience for men as well as women, spend some time getting used to the idea of you being without hair. The idea is to figure out how to maintain a positive body image after your hair is gone.

For obvious reasons, this is easier to do before you lose your hair. At the same time, keep in mind that it is a temporary side effect. Talking about your feelings to your close ones can helpto reduce your anxiety.

As soon as you know that you will be undergoing chemotherapy and there will be hair loss, you should start looking for buying a wig. This will give you an idea of what sort of budget is required for different types of wigs and what you can afford to spend to buy your wig. This way you will get an idea of what the price range is and the quality that you will get for that price.
This will give you flexibility in choosing the right wig and it will give you time to make an easier transition into wearing the wig so that your hair loss will be least noticeable. Remember wearing a wig during recovery should make you look good and feel better. Planning ahead will make this easy.
Nothing looks more natural than your own hair, and during your treatment and recovery, seeing the person you recognize in the mirror every day will help give you the confidence to continue with your normal life.
Have consultations and get estimate to make an informed decision about the purchase of the wig that is so important to your morale during the recovery process.

Cutting your hair short or Shaving your hair

Some people may suggest to you to cut your hair short as soon as you know you will start chemotherapy because it will make wearing a wig with a shorter hair style easier to manage but do not rush.
Have your hair styled and cut the way you will want to look while you are wear the wig. Then, have your picture taken from the front, the back and from both profiles. By doing this you will not only allow yourself to get used to a different style, if you desire a change, but it will also allow others around you  to get used to a new look as well. By taking photographs record your own hairstyle will make much easier to have your wig cut and styled to match once you begin losing your hair.
Ask your stylist cut a sample of your hair & keep it as a reference to match the color & texture of the hair as a reference for your custom made wig.
Ask your oncologist or counsellors to find out as much as you can about how your treatment and medications will affect your hair loss. Generally, patients begin losing their hair at different times after the chemotherapy sessions as this varies from person to person and can is affected by different medications and strength of the dosage.
Order your wig. You should take a decision & place your order for a customized wig as it takes at least a few weeks to make one. Ideally the wig should be ready & you should have a fitting trial before you begin losing your hair. This will give you the most time to make any changes as necessary if required
You should start wearing a wig when you begin losing your hair and when you feel it is cosmetically acceptable to be without it.
Start by wearing your wig at home for just a few hours & extend the wearing time gradually.
If you are a working person start wearing it on weekends when you’re just with family as it will help you to get more comfortable wearing the wig and make the transition less noticeable when you finally start wearing it full time.
I normally suggest that you shave your head once you start losing your hair before wearing the wig. Don’t do this until you are completely comfortable with the way the wig looks fits and feels on your head.

Hair falls out in single strands and in clumps. Once it starts coming out, hair will be on your pillow, on your collar, on the floor and in your shower. There are patients who do not touch their hair but as the hair loss increases the hair becomes entangled with hair that was still securely anchored within the follicles. I explain to them that they would feel more comfortable and there would be less chance of infection if the matted hair that were under tension were removed or shaved off. The elimination of uncontrolled hair fall and embarrassment of shedding generally helps. Frankly, it's a complete mess — such a mess that you may find yourself dialing your hair stylist and asking for an appointment to have your head shaved. Shaving facilitates prosthetic hair security and comfort i.e. two way tape and other adhesives for hair prostheses.
Once you are comfortable wearing the wig that looks natural and that allows you to function socially just as you did before you began treatment.
Think of your wig as just another part of your personal grooming and focus on recovery.

Another way to make the transition easier is to start having fun with your hair now, before you begin treatment. If you've ever wanted to experiment with a different style and color, now is the perfect time. Have you always wondered what you would look like in a shorter style? Go for it! That way, when you do transition to a wig you will feel free to continue experimenting with new and different looks.

Can a wig cause damage to my scalp, or slow down my own natural hair growth?

No, absolutely not. Wearing a wig will not harm your scalp or inhibit new growth. During the period of hair fall it is best to keep the scalp clean by shampooing as normal, as hair may become entangled as it falls away from the hair follicles.

Shampooing does not increase the hair loss but makes the scalp feel more comfortable and, when the hair starts to regrow; the scalp is also in the optimum condition. The other reason that the hair or scalp should be shampooed regularly is that, if you decide to wear a hat or wig, then the scalp has a covering of sebum (sweat) and this can leave the surface sore along with an odour. In fact, a wig will make you feel better and more confident about your appearance, while helping maintain body heat and preventing overexposure of your sensitive skin during this time. You may also find there is an in between period when your hair is growing back but you aren’t quite ready to go out with your own hair. You may choose to wear a wig or other headcover until your hair is longer. Most women choose to wear their wig until their own hair has grown enough to style and shape and they are confident of moving around with their own hair.

How long will it take for my hair grow back after chemotherapy?

If you had chemotherapy, here's a general time table:

two to three weeks after chemotherapy ends: soft baby fine hair
one month after: real hair starts to grow at its normal rate
two months after: an inch of hair
How long it takes to grow back a full head of hair (and pubic hair, lashes, and brows if you lost them too) varies from person to person. The hair growing back is often a total different texture kinky and dry and length (very slow growing. )It's quite common for hair to grow back differently after radiotherapy or chemotherapy treatment. There are several reasons why it happens.
When hair is damaged by radiotherapy or chemotherapy, the weaker hair follicles are destroyed completely whilst the stronger ones often recover. In most people, this means that hair on the top of the head thins more than hair at the sides - the same pattern you see when people go bald naturally for other reasons.

Although it may look as if it is all one colour, most people's hair actually contains several different hair types - this is why real hair tends to have more depth of colour than artificial wigs. Everybody has some hair that's finer than the rest - this is the first to grow when we're babies, and it's often the last to go. Because some hair types are stronger than others, some people's hair will actually change shade after treatment. This doesn't mean that something has colored it, but just that differently colored hair strand follicles have died out.

Hair is often kinky after radiation treatment because, when the body is irradiated, it does not affect the body unequally.

This means that follicles can be damaged at one side but healthy at the other. When they create hair, it's squeezed out at an angle, making it curl. While it could be straightened by pressing with hair straighteners, this is likely to damage fragile hair further. The hair is likely to stay the way it is, at least in terms of its thickness and shape. However, there's no reason why it needs to stay dry. What it needs is proper nourishment to produce healthier hair in the future.

Improving your blood circulation will help more nutrients to reach your hair follicles, so try to get more exercise and make sure you eat a healthy diet.To overcome the nutritional deficiencies, changing diet and including supplements will strengthen the immune system. You can also try gently massaging your scalp with coconut or olive oil (avoid citrus oils, as they can dry the skin more). Try not to wash your hair too often and never wash it without using conditioner. You may never be as happy with it as you were before your illness, but it's still worth bringing out the best in it.

Generally, the hair most likely to fall out is the hair that tends to grow back the fastest. The hair on the top of your head grows faster than your eyebrows or eyelashes.
Your new hair may be just like your old hair, or it may be thicker and curlier, or straighter, than your original hair.

And your hair might grow back a different color. Women who dyed and processed their hair might not remember what their hair was like originally and may be surprised by the new natural color and texture. Eventually, your hair usually goes back to the way it used to be after the effect of chemotherapy on the hair follicle wears off. Within 4 to 6 months after your treatment ends, you should have a good head of hair.
Very, very rarely, permanent baldness occurs after many years of strong chemotherapy: Hair follicles get shut down, so there is no new growth. Remember, this situation is extremely rare. If you are one of the very, very few women who remain bald, you may mourn your hair for quite a while. But you can become an expert on what to do to make yourself feel attractive, and help other women deal with their new loss.

Will medical insurance cover the cost of a wig?

Wigs ( CRANIAL PROSTHESIS )are not covered by medical insurance in India though they are a side effect of a remedy for treatment. Your emotional well-being is an important part of your medical recovery process. Wigs are considered as a cosmetic item. Insurance coverage for clients with medically related hair loss is available in many other countries. If a person requires a wig while or after receiving therapy for Alopecia or cancer, they are eligible to receive reimbursement from their health insurance plan. Wigs are covered, in part or totally, by health insurance abroad. Most insurance companies abroad will cover from 80% to 100 % of a cranial prosthesis.

Contact your insurance company and ask if they cover “cranial prostheses” (wigs) required due to medical hair loss, how much they cover, and what documentation they require. There should be a section under covered expenses related to prosthesis, prosthetic devices or medical durable equipment. Though a wig and a cranial hair prosthesis are similar the “wig” should be called “cranial hair prosthesis” for insurance purposes.Cranial prosthesis’s are different from ready to wear fashion wigs in quality, performance, and service. Prosthesis’s are made of specialized material, for individuals with severe hair loss.
You will need to get a prescription from your doctor for a cranial prosthesis. Request your doctor to write a "PRESCRIPTION" for "CRANIAL PROSTHESIS".
Notify us about your medical need for alternative hair and we will also mention it and send you an invoice and receipt for a cranial prosthesis.
Enclose a letter to the insurance company stating the necessity of a prosthesis.Detail the emotional effects that your medical treatment has had on your life. Discuss the financial aspects of frequent cranial prosthesis purchases (if applicable). Mention that a prosthesis is just as medically necessary as a prosthetic limb or breast - it replaces a missing body part - hair, as well as counteracting the psychological distress secondary to alopecia.
If your insurance company denies insurance coverage, you can appeal.
Never file an insurance claim for a wig. Always call it a CRANIAL PROSTHESIS.

If you don’t have insurance contact government hospitals or NGO's. There are various NGO's who offer medical assistance in most states for individuals who meet certain income guidelines.
These are guidelines only. Always follow the procedures stated by your insurance company so you can obtain the fullest benefits possible. Individual insurance companies may have other or additional steps to complete.

What is the difference between a wig and cranial prosthesis?

A wig is a artificial covering of human, animal or synthetic hair worn on the head for personal enhancement, for cultural or religious reasons, for fashion or various other aesthetic and stylistic reasons, as part of a costume by actors to help them better resemble the character they are portraying, or to conceal hair loss or baldness. A ready machine made wig has a set style - what you see is what you get.

A cranial hair prosthesis is a nonsurgical hair replacement solution specifically designed for medical hair replacement applications for those suffering from hair loss due to alopecia, side effects of chemotherapy treatments, and variety of other medically related hair loss situations. Unlike an off-the-shelf wig, prosthesis is custom made to fit the clients head is sturdy and durable and exactly duplicates the patient's hair to what it looked like before the hair loss occurred.

Precise head measurements are taken and real human hair is selected to match the hair texture, color, density, part and hairline. Often variations of the hair color are blended for a more natural appearance. The hair is hand tied onto a base material that resembles scalp. The base, which is breathable and very comfortable, is attached with a semi-permanent bond.

From that point, it is just like your own hair, to wash and style as you wish. The cranial prosthesis gives you a totally natural appearance. Your result is a full, lush head of hair that looks real because it is real.

Can I use heated styling tools on my wig?

The use of heated styling tools like hair drier, curling tons, straightening irons should bedone used with extreme caution. Excessive heat will cause permanent damage to the hair strands. Blow drying the hair on a cool or warm setting of the hair dryer also helps to reduce damage to the human hair used in wigs or hair prostheses. Just as naturally growing hair will be damaged by heat, a human hair prosthesis will damage over time with the use of the high setting on hair dryers, curling irons, and flat irons. This will extend the life and eliminate any unwanted damage to the wig.

Can I sleep wearing the wig on my head?

Allure Hair does not recommend that you sleep wearing the wig. You should remove the wig before sleeping as it is likely to tangle during sleep. It will also lose its styling and you will have to dress it before wearing again. Sometimes women find it tedious and prefer to sleep wearing the wig but most people prefer that they don't have hair on their face with they sleep. Be as confident with your family as you would be alone. You should preferably wear a scarf or a skull cap while sleeping. In case due to some reason you have to wear the wig and sleep then I always recommend that you do not sleep in the same wig that you will be wearing during the day. There are several options for sleeping if you prefer a wig instead of a scarf or turban. The use of an older prosthesis that has been worn during the day that needs to be replaced due to the hair thinning or general wear is a solution that can extend the use of your wig. Each time that you replace your prosthesis that you wear during the day, the older one can be worn for sleeping at night.

When caring for the prosthesis that is worn at night, it is suggested that each morning you brush all of the tangles from the hair. This will help to keep the hair from matting and frizzing. You will find that if the hair is not brushed each morning, it will become extremely difficult to remove the tangles. The few minutes that you spend taking the necessary steps to care for the prosthesis will extend the wear, appearance, and comfort that you will experience on a daily basis. It is very helpful to use a silk or satin pillow case to prevent friction, tangling and excessive damage to the hair.

The prosthesis should be washed and conditioned at least once a week when it is used for sleeping. Each time before washing the prosthesis, brush through the hair to remove any loose hairs. The loose hairs can also cause tangling when washing. Once the hair has been washed and conditioned, be sure to rinse the inside of the cap thoroughly to remove the build up of any excess shampoo or conditioner. A build up residue of shampoo or conditioner on the inside of the cap can cause itching of the scalp. The hair can then be placed on a wire wig stand or over a tall bottle to air dry.

If preferred, you can use a very thin cotton liner underneath the wig for comfort. A clean soft cotton liner can be used each night to reduce the build up of oils from the scalp on the inside of the cap. Other option is a less expensive human hair wig that is light weight. A lighter density of hair will be cooler and more comfortable for sleeping.

I am having difficulty in wearing a wig. Are there any suggestions for making this easier?

In the beginning, you may find it uncomfortable so try to wear the wig for only 1 or 2 hours at a time during the day. You can gradually increase the wearing time as it becomes more familiar.

If the cap seems to irritate your scalp, you can wear a thin cotton liner made of muslin cloth (mul mul cloth) underneath the wig. Trim them to a shape smaller than the base of the cap and wear under the wig. Be sure to leave the areas exposed to your scalp that will provide security of the wig so that it will not slide around or shift. If the wig has an elastic adjustment, check to see if the circumference is too tight and that you have the best possible fit.

Try removing the wig and wash your head with cool or warm water several times a day. Heat is lost through the top of the head and this is helpful especially on warm days. Be sure to rinse your head well if soap is used. A residue of soap can cause the scalp to itch.

The area just behind your ears near the occipital bone can be very sensitive for some women. If the wig rests on this area or is too tight, then it can cause headaches. Sometimes adjusting the wig in this area can make a huge difference in comfort.

How do I keep the wig from itching of the scalp?

If you are experiencing discomfort and itching while wearing your wig, there are a few suggestions that might be of help.

When washing the wig, it is extremely important that you rinse all the shampoo from the wig thoroughly. If there is a residue or build up of the shampoo, it can cause irritation to the scalp. Be sure to rinse the inside base of the cap since this is the area in contact with the scalp. The same procedure of rinsing the inside of the cap applies when using a conditioner.

Another idea that might be helpful is to remove the wig after a few hours or wearing everyday and clean your scalp with a damp tissue or napkin. You can also rinse with water if needed. You will find that this will refresh your scalp and remove any oil build-up that is on the scalp. To do this on a regular basis will prevent oils from building up on the inside of the cap which can cause itching.

Many times with a hand-tied wig, the strands of hair will come back through the base. This can cause itching as well.

Careful combing and brushing will help to prevent this from happening Also, it is important to follow the care instructions of the manufacturer of the wig. This will also help to prevent the hair from coming back through the cap of the wig.

Can I get an exact match of Human hair every time I order from you?

Often a hairpiece or wig may not match (exactly) the feel, texture, or natural wave pattern of one that you have owned before. Because human hair is not a mechanically controled manufactured product (such as synthetic fiber hair), human hair varies tremendously from the thickness of the hair strands (meaning thicker or thinner denier hair strands) to straight, wavy, or curly. There is no way to ensure an accurate match. Every person has certain differences within their hair.
Also, the longer the human hair lengths, the more costly; the closest to original virgin human hair the hair is, the more expensive and valuable. There is a lot to take into consideration when purchasing a human hair products for ones self. (e.g.) naturally grey silver shade of human hair is the most expensive; you might be shocked as to how much it will cost just to buy the hair itself no less having it made into a wig or piece; it is almost an impossible product to buy!
Because of all the above variations in human hair being used to make wigs and hairpieces, it is important to remember that a reasonable quality control of techniques used in it\'s processing is very very crucially important. This is why Allure Hair has a reputation for producing a constant quality human hair products.

Hair Replacement System & Toupee for men

A toupee can be a great boost for a man losing his hair. It can give you back your confidence and make you look younger. But there is nothing worse than a bad toupee. If people can tell that you're wearing one, it's bad. With the right kind of tape, the proper fit and good materials used in the toupee, you can look good in a hairpiece. Allure Hair specializes in custom made hairpieces for men and we consider it an art form. For the man who wants a superior hairpiece that is undetectable, offers perfect individual fit with base material that conforms to the contours of their head. Each strand of hair is pulled through and tied by hand. Our technique of ventilation, cutting, and styling create a lightweight, natural-looking hairpiece that is uniquely suited to the individual.

The terms hairpieces, hair replacement system, toupee, unit, etc. are just different names for the same thing. You may wear a hair piece and avoid hair replacement systems because of the different names, or you think they are all the same and too expensive. You may wear a hair replacement system and be cautious of hair pieces, thinking they are not as natural looking.

Don't get confused with a lot of technical jargon or words which are used while talking and are difficult for a normal person to understand. Some hair replacement clinics and stylists invent terminology to apply to a particular technique with which they make their hair replacement systems. These words can make them sound more advanced and innovative and give them more legitimacy and respectability to an unsuspecting hair loss client.

Maybe their "latest" - "cutting edge" - "best" - "innovative" - "unique" techniques do a fine job, but does it make them better in any way than others? Often, these terms are fads and marketing tools to attract unsuspecting and novice patients. When you hear a term mentioned that you have never heard before, or is unique to a particular clinic do not hesitate to ask what it means in simple terms.
We caution you on firms that use a lot of fancy procedural terms that might only be synonyms for techniques that are routine or similar every other technique. Ask yourself, if this is latest, greatest technique a sales tool, or is it a unique method to how this firm makes their hair replacement systems.

Be cautious where you get your information from. There is a lot of one-sided advertorial-like "research" and "reports" which are cleverly disguised marketing tools. They disguise themselves under simple sounding associations, journals and educational websites which are nothing more then a platform to market a specific product or clinic. Many of the anti-hair replacement system reports are controlled by those who are hoping to sell you a different type hair loss treatment or hair replacement method.

We specialize in making hair systems using the best and most natural techniques which are proven to be superior and are time tested over the last few years.

It is common for balding men not to have identical size heads and hair patterns. They all experience different male pattern baldness patterns. Therefore, in order to use a hairpiece that will fit and look natural, choose a custom-made hair replacement. Custom hair pieces are designed to fit perfectly.
The base is designed to contour and fit the bald area perfectly. The hair used to create the hair piece is color-matched with your hair sample. The hair shape can be matched with your own hair using a permanent hair treatment or by regular wet set hair styling, if desired.

All these can be made with natural Human or Synthetic hair and with a mesh, lace or polyurethane base. Each can be attached by several different methods for daily or extended wear by using medical grade adhesive tape, clips, bonding adhesive and weaving techniques. So don't let fancy names or old fashioned terms scare you off. The main concern should be if the system is truly a handmade customized hair piece specially tailored to your exact specifications or merely a pre-made stock piece off a shelf. Many companies use these wholesale stock pieces because they cost less which increases their already inflated profit margin and this is why they don't ask your specific desires in the ordering process. They can't,
your choices are limited if the product is already made.
We have exactly what you're looking for.100% hand knotted, can be used by ladies and gents, easy wearing, natural looking.

Allure Hair replacement systems are cost effective. The life of a pair of Allure hair replacement systems is usually 12 to 18 months which makes our hair systems economical solution for hair loss sufferers. Other companies will try to offer and enrol you into expensive maintenance programs which require you to go to them for regular servicing and attachments. We provide freedom to you of being bound to us.

Our clients enjoy their weekends and days off which otherwise they spend in a hair replacement salon getting their systems cleaned and attached. No one thinks of this value of the clients time when they enquire about the price initially.

Type of hair: 100% virgin Remy Indian human hair

Base design: We can make various kinds of base designs as per your order.
Size available: We can make any base size as per your request, 4"x6", 5"x7", 6"x8", 6"x9", 7"x 9", 8"x9”, 7"x10", 8"x10", 7" x 11”, 8 " x 11"

Size: Size is by measuring using a tailoring tape, by making a template, or plaster, fiberglass or foam mold. Size can be specified in centimeters or inches. However this does not show contour and recession needed on the unit. Contour is the curvature of the head. Recession is the shape of the front hairline. Both are necessary to provide a proper custom fit and natural look to the finished piece.
Finished Hair Length: Finished hair length is from the base to the end of hair before curling.
No extra charge for lengths up to 5 ".
Long hair charges will apply to length over 5" and longer.

Underventing:
Underventing is adding a row of hair knotted into the bottom of base along the outside perimeter. Used at the front hairline it helps to conceal the edge of base material that is not scalloped or made of lace. Light is 1 row, Medium is 2 rows and Heavy is 3 rows of underventing. We do not recommend underventing on lace units, scallop fronts, or Micro thin Poly skin (graft material) fronts. Doing this would make the front too heavy and create a solid line making it look artificial.

Parting:
Some type of hair direction must be given while ordering to indicate how to knot the hair to give it style for the final look. If you want a definite whorl in the crown, check the location on order form. If you want a definite or diffused part, check location on form. Freestyle is knotted forward from the crown position, and can be combed or parted anywhere and is charged more as it takes longer time to make.. On the picture “Draw Hair Direction” you may want to draw how the client wishes to comb their hair.

Hair Density:

70%-150% as per requirement. Many things such as base material, hair length and type of hair/fiber used will affect the finished appearance of Density. Example: Medium Density is 100% thickness of a normally full head of hair. Light Density is 80% thickness on a normally full head of hair, etc.

If you do not know your hair-density, curl, style etc., please send your old photographs before your hairloss which shows your front and profile clearly. In case you need a different hairstyle than what you had before then please send us reference pictures or photographs which will give an idea of how you like to wear your hair.

Hair color: We can match the hair color according to client's hair sample. Please sent us cutting sample of your own hair.

Attachment Method : Tape, Bonding with adhesive.

Lace Front :

If you are just begining to lose your hair and want a natural looking front hairline, this is the preferred option. The lace front is a very thin material at the front of the unit from temple to temple and back about 1 "-2". It is extremely fragile and needs replacing every 6 months. The client must treat it very carefully as it is delicate. The lace front is attached with a special adhesive tape.

Each hair system is made with the highest quality materials. Long lasting, natural looking, durable, and comfortable.

Highest quality virgin remi human hair, remy hair is used.Invisible front line with a lace front (Super Welded

Monofilament). Easy to maintain and undetectable. It can be attached with double sided adhesive tape. You can play sports with confidence or shower, swim etc. Best seller all over the world.

Life of the Hair system

Hair System lifetime is greatly dependent, 100%, on customers own care, wear and other conditions out of our control. We fully back our products with our guarantee, but please remember that proper care helps with the longevity of the life you can expect from our Hair Systems. Also, the more natural looking the product, the less durable it is, and vice versa. But with durability, you have to sacrifice some naturalness. That is why our Hair System material is chosen to be perfect balance of the both.Generally, there is no specific time when a hair piece should be washed. Factors such as sweating, pollution and humidity will contribute to the frequency of washing, as it does with your own hair. All wigs need washing and repairs periodically to keep them looking fresh and natural for both technical and personal hygienic reason.

Which is the superior attachment method, tapes, clips, or bonding with glue?

The best attachment method will be what the client needs to match his life style and expectations. It is not uncommon to change the securing method for our clients as their lifestyle changes or they mature in age. They all have their own pros and cons. If you want to swim and in a windy environment, we recommend SEMI PERMANENT METHOD. Sweat at the net base if not cleaned properly and bad hygiene can lead to skin problems like fungal infection of the scalp. Hence we prefer to recommend methods where the hair system can be removed and fixed frquently.

Will I need to shave the top of my head before attaching my hair system?

Not in all cases but we recommend to shave the area of their head that the hair system will cover.Having a clean shaven area to attach your hair system using either double sided hairpiece tape or liquid adhesive will improve the strength of the bond as well as the length of time you can wear the unit. We recommend growing your hair around the balding area so the hair piece is covering a smaller spot on your head for this reason.

Is it possible to for a person who is not bald to wear a monofilament hair replacement system? My hairline is so thin and missing hair in spots. The sides, center and back hair is fine.

The purpose of the lace unit is to allow the scalp to show through. This allows the hair replacement to appear as if it is growing out of the scalp. If you put the lace unit onto a scalp with hair, this illusion is defeated. My "first time" clients usually wear the unit for a few days with the hair combed forward to get comfortable. When they are ready, they will ask to have the head shaved. It is a big step, ESPECIALLY for a woman. These lace front units are not for FASHION.

They are for women with a hair problem. If you style your hair forward, you do not need a lace unit (but you could still use it).

Hair Weaving for men

The procedure is not surgical but merely cosmetic. It attaches hair piece or extensions, either natural or synthetic, to existing hairs.

Hair weaving is a way of adding hair to the scalp by weaving or braiding in extra human or synthetic hair. It is also known as hair integration or hair intensification. The hair weft is woven near the root area of your own hair so that it grows naturally with the hair. It is best to avoid hair weaving for a few months after chemotherapy and if you are taking medicines that weaken the hair, such as hormonal therapies or biological therapies.
Hair weaving is not suitable for people who have thin, weak hair because the process of hair weaving strains existing hair and may make it fall out. The major drawback is that the extensions must be repositioned every four to six weeks as the hair grows out.

What is meant by "natural frontal hairline"?

This means that the front hair density is a little less than the rest of the unit. For some hair styles, it will give a more natural look.

Bleached Knots

Bleaching knots after the knotting process causes the knots to swell and loosen and the hair becomes very weak as well, ultimately causing massive shedding.

Due to this reason, I do not make any frontals, closures, hair replacement system or wigs with bleached knots .

Monofilament Wigs

Some wigs made of wefted or net foundation, have a top section made out of monofilament. This material, which is like a very fine lace (net) makes the parting look much more natural as if the hair is growing from the scalp. As the material is so fine, you can’t see the individual parts of the mesh which the hair is knotted into. However some of the more basic wigs do not have monofilament parting and therefore a natural appearance, where it looks as if the hair is growing from the scalp is harder to achieve at the parting. This is not always a problem though. If you want to wear a style that has height and doesn’t need a defined parting, this type of wig would be suitable.

There has been so much development within the world hair pieces; it is unbelievable to think of the latest and greatest arrivals in the industry. Hair systems have taken over from where basic hair pieces and wigs left off, as they are a non-intrusive, non-surgical solution to the most natural looking, easily maintained heads of hair. The wig base materials have also changed dramatically, and there are so many available it is often confusing to know which to choose.

The simpler, basic wigs are also known for being machine made. They are made from synthetic hair which is designed into a pattern of panels or rows and machine sewn on to a strip of material. The resulting style of the hair piece depends on the hair that is sewn on to the panel, i.e. if it is long, short, straight or curly.
Wigs that are more intricate and sophisticated are usually constructed from a wig base material of monofilament, which also uses a polyurethane top and frontal area. To this thin base, human hairs and individual hand knotted, created the thinnest and most undetectable attachment as well as the ability to move the hair most freely when worn. Monofilament is used as it is see through, allowing the wearers underlying scalp to be seen, adding to the natural finish. The hairs are individually hand tied on to the wig base for appearance as well as comfort. When machine made wigs are produced, the style is fixed and therefore extremely restricted for the wearer. Using polyurethane at the front and top of the wig base is also more comfortable and uses double sided medical grade sticking material to provide that extra touch of security for the wearer.

Bespoke, custom made hair systems and pieces, usually a much lighter weighing wig base is used. This can be made from a number of available materials it is all about finding the perfect one for the wearer. In most circumstances the wig base (or membrane) is made from lace, polyurethane, monofilament, silicone or polygauze.

Hair systems at Allure Hair are custom made, ensuring that clients are receiving exactly what they are looking for. For the most undetectable, natural finish with care and advice at every step of the journey, the Allure Hair  is definitely the place to go.

Monofilament Top Monofilament Weaving

What is "monofilament", and what is a monofilament wig? And how is it different from a standard wig?

Monofilament is skin-like construction which allows better air circulation at the scalp, which prevents heat and moisture build up, comfortable to wear and allows the hair to be easily parted revealing a scalp like effect.
A monofilament wig is a of higher quality construction than a standard mesh cap wig, resulting in a more natural look, depending on the hairstyle desired. Monofilament construction wigs have been steadily growing in popularity for many years.

Monofilament, sometimes referred in short as "mono" is a type of a thin mesh nylon fabric, that is used in wig construction. So the base of a monofilament wig is made up of this monofilament material instead of the traditional lace or wefts. Whether it is a synthetic hair or a human hair, the construction is the same: instead of rows of hair, the hair on monofilament material is sewn in a hair (or a few hairs) at a time creating an effect that looks like the way hair naturally grows out of a scalp.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of monofilament construction compared with standard wigs?

Advantages:

Natural Look With A Natural Part and Less Hair And Materials

The main advantage is a more natural look. Monofilament wig offers the most natural and realistic look as each hair is hand-sewn into the monofilament mesh and the semi-transparent material allows for the wig to show off your scalp with natural parts in your hair style. In other words, a Monofilament wig is almost indiscernible from natural hair to even the most curious onlooker.

Aside from an amazingly realistic part area which simulates the look of a human scalp, the other reason a monofilament wig looks very natural is because there is less hair on the wig.

A common problem with wigs is that sometimes it feels like there is just too much hair, especially on the top of the head and near the front hairline. A monofilament wig is less bulky in these areas. There is less hair, and less cap materials as well, causing the hair to lie very flat and close to the head. For this reason, we especially recommend monofilament wigs to anyone who has thin or fine hair.

Lightweight and Cooler

A monofilament wig is usually more lightweight than a standard cap wig because there is less hair on the wig and less materials in the cap fabrics. Also because of this, the wig is cooler and allows more airflow to prevent heat being trapped under the wig.

Direction And More Styling Options

Often a monofilament wig will allow more styling options since each hair can move more easily in different directions because each hair or few hairs is sewn in individually. In other words, the style is less fixed and can usually be altered simply by brushing it, or with the aid of a little bit of water during styling to make the hair more flexible. For this reason, you can alter the location of the hair parting in most monofilament wigs, something that is not possible to do with a standard cap wig.

This direction also allows the hair on the wig to move more like your natural hair. Each hair has a little more individual freedom of movement.

Disadvantages:

More Expensive

The main disadvantage is that monofilament wigs are more expensive than standard cap wigs. The higher price is due to the extreme labor-intensive nature of the construction. Each hair or tuft of hair is hand-tied and individually knotted into the monofilament using tiny hooks. Of course this takes a great deal of time and a great deal of skill.

Not As Much Hair

One of the main advantages of a monofilament wig can also be a disadvantage. While many people are pleased with the thinner hair volume of monofilament wigs, some people want more hair and more volume.

For a flatter, more natural style, monofilament is a good choice. But what if you want your hair to have more height or more volume? Then a monofilament wig might not be a good choice for you. It really depends on what type of hairstyle you are trying to achieve.

What are the differences between different types of monofilament wigs?

The caps of most monofilament wigs are not entirely made of monofilament material, but are a combination of monofilament and wefted construction. The most important and difficult areas to make look right in a wig are the top and crown of the head, and the edge of the front hairline, so those are the areas where you will most often see monofilament construction.

The sides and the back of the wig are usually wefted even on a monofilament wig.

However, the very highest quality construction wigs are entirely 100% hand tied with monofilament construction. Also some wigs have a "monofilament part" solely to achieve a natural part, but have regular construction in the rest of the cap.

Some monofilament wigs have a double layer of materials which they call two-layer construction. This provides an additional layer of very thin material between the monofilament and the head for extra comfort.

The extent to which a wig is composed of monofilament material often depends on various factors, but the main factor is what hairstyle is being achieved. Many hairstyles don't require monofilament to achieve a stunning look, or only require them in certain portions of the wig's cap. For this reason, the exact cap construction may differ is some minor ways from style to style.

Is a monofilament wig the right choice for me?

Perfect for cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy or women suffering from significant hair loss, it is also a great choice for anyone who wants the most undetectable wig available.

Hair Extensions

Hair extensions have been popular for several years abroad but have gained popularity in India in the last few years only.

They were once a celebrity secret but clip on extensions have become a fashion accessory available to everyone, and are capable of adding thickness, length and color, all in a short matter of time. Film stars like Bipasha Basu have managed to have a short hairstyle and long hair simultaneously for movie roles.

Today, hair extensions are no longer just for celebrities. Because of the increased demand for extension services, many stylists have received training to attach/remove hair extensions and the industry as a whole has expanded to include many different methods of attachment. The instant way to having long hair is extensions. There is a method that will work with thin hair, thick hair, curly hair, thinning hair, straight hair, damaged hair and more. There is not one best method that will work for everyone. What will work for your hair, may not work for someone else. This is why it is very important to schedule consultation appointment with the stylist first.

Some common reasons that men and women are getting hair extensions today:Cover up thinning hair,Cover up damaged or over-treated hair, Love long hair and don’t want to wait for hair to grow out, Want to get highlight/lowlights without chemical processing to own hair, get long hair for a special occasion, i.e. wedding, party, etc., Lengthen a too-short hair cut

Hair extensions can be made from 100% natural human hair, 100% synthetic hair or a mixture of human, synthetic, and animal hair. They are available in just about any color, texture, or length.

If you have trouble growing your hair thick and long, or want a fringe but are too afraid to cut your hair? Clip in hair extension has come to the rescue.

They can give more length, volume, texture and also allow you to add colour. You can clip them into your own hair by separating your hair and starting at the nape of the neck.
For best results with clip on hair extensions you should style your own hair and the hair extensions separately. This is because clip on hair extensions are versatile and quick to put in and take out. You don't require a professional to fit them for you; you can do it yourself at home. Clip in hair extensions are economical as you do not have to spend repeatedly going to the salon for application. They are one of the most affordable forms of hair extensions, made using 100% human hair. You can choose from lengths such as 14" through to 33". The best looking hair extensions for average height women are usually around 20". The most popular lengths are 18",20",22" which is to your bra strap length or slightly longer.

Glue tipped Individual strands

This method involves using small amounts (about15-20 strands) of extension hair and applying to small sections of your own hair by either heat fusing, gluing, crimping with metal rings, or using glues made of waxes and polymers. All these methods involve coating your own hair with a chemical or foreign substance except for the crimping which is self explanatory.
These extensions usually last only a few months before they have to be taken out and completely redone. The main problem with this method is taking the Hair Extensions out without damaging your own hair. There is loss of the expensive hair strands while removing also.

Bonding or Fusion Method

Bonded hair extensions use specially formulated adhesives to attach the hair which are usually wax based or keratin based.

Cold bonding

This is a liquid adhesive and comes in two types one for lasting hold and rubberized adhesive is meant for temporary extensions lasting only a few days. It breaks down easily with oils and shampoos.

Thermal Heat Bonding or Fusion

The bonding material is a wax like material formulated to withstand mild heat. A thermal appliance is used to melt the adhesive material which quickly hardens into a firm flexible bond. Thermal bonding adhesives resist softening from shampooing, conditioners, and oils hence is preferred as there is no bulk at the scalp leaving the hair to flow freely.
To remove hair extensions that have been bonded /fused, the bond between the hair and extension needs to be softened by using a solvent; this is done with a remover and specialist tools by a professional only.

Hair Extensions attachment methods

Human hair extensions are available in two basic types -- Individual strands and wefts. Some attachment methods work for certain hair types and won't work for others. The strands format involves adding small sections of hair to your existing hair. Wefts are larger widths of hair which looks like curtain of hair attached around the head. Human hair extensions can be applied in a variety of ways. One popular method is to glue the extensions wefts. Professionals will often apply strands with subtle color variations -- this tends to give the extensions a more natural look.Hair extensions have come so far today that they are really undetectable, when attached by an experienced stylist. You can get beautiful long hair just like all those celebrities and no one will know you are wearing them- unless of course you tell them. Hair extensions can also be weaved, braided, fused, clamped, or glued.

There are many varieties of Hair Extensions available, but the best is Natural or Human Hair Extensions and two main types of application methods: Individual Strands and Hair weft Extensions which are covered here.

Does attaching and removing Hair extensions requires special training and education?

Yes it is best to go to a trained experienced person. If you go to a stylist who has no training and is inexperienced with hair extensions, you could end up with permanently damaged hair right near the roots. Most salons advertise "completely undetectable". If extension hair is attached to your natural hair, there will be a visible point of attachment. The skill of the stylist will eventually determine if the extensions are well disguised with your own hair. Many methods require the stylist to attend hands on training classes to learn the skills needed to attach, remove and blend in the hair. But, there is much more involved than simply scheduling an appointment. If you go with the wrong stylist or pick the wrong method you could end up with damaged hair and waste a lot of money.

It is essential to know about hair and its different types used to make the extensions at first.

Different types and qualities of hair used for hair extensions today.

• European hair • Chinese hair • Brushed Indian hair • Indian Temple hair • Beauty Salon / Beauty parlour Hair

European hair: Unsuitable for hair extensions. European hair is very fine and is available only in very small quantities.

Very few European women grow their hair long. Most European women use some form of chemical treatment on their hair. As it is necessary to use virgin hair for making hair extensions it is almost impossible to get hair to never have been chemically treated.

Chinese hair is not preferred for hair extensions.
Chinese hair is available in large quantities. This type of hair is too thick and rigid to blend in with European hair which is fine. Chinese hair differs from European hair as it has a round cross-section as against the oval shape of Caucasian hair. This kind of hair can be used for making wigs and toupees but not hair extensions.

Brushed Indian hair: Unsuitable for hair extensions.

Village hair accounts for a large percent of India’s hair exports and is mostly derived from women’s hair combs and brushes. It is regarded as lower quality than Temple hair. The hair is collected by people known as “hackers” who exchange it for sweets, plastic toys and bindis. The hackers rub in dirt to increase the weight so they can command a higher price.
Thousands of Indian women gather the hair that is collected in their combs & brushes, hair of different lengths, thicknesses and color. The hair lies unorganized in two directions because of which it tangles easily. The different directions the hair is in, and in order to be able to use it, it is necessary to treat it with an aggressive chemical treatment to strip it of its cuticle layer and prevent it from tangling. The chemical treatment that destroys the hair cuticle layer, leaves it thin, opaque and fragile. The hair is then coated with silicon layer which makes it softer and gives it a healthy look. This coating has a short life and gets depleted with a few washes.

Indian Temple hair:

Temple hair
Each year, thousands of Hindu worshipers( women, men & children) make pilgrimages to temples like Tirupati where they shave off their hair as an act of religious sacrifice, devotion and thanks giving. This custom has become so lucrative that temples now designate certain women workers to ensure all the pilgrims’ hair is properly braided before it’s shaved off. By having the hair cuticles facing the same direction, temples are able to sell the hair to wig makers at higher rates. The Balaji Temple in Tirumalai – the second busiest in the world – collects tons of hair each week, generating an estimated annual income of many millions of rupees for the temple trust.

Indian hair is highly regarded in the hair industry because of its flexibility, durability, and texture. Indian hair is naturally thick and lustrous, so it gives best possible styling and application options for extensions. The hair is also naturally dark, so it works great with most braiding and weaving applications for women of color. Allure Hair uses 100% human hair in virgin condition of the best quality. Genetically, Indian hair is very similar to Caucasian hair in its basic structure. It is never exposed to harsh chemical treatments. As the hair is not chemically processed in any way, there is no damage to the cuticle.Indian hair is preferred for the manufacturing of hair extensions. Allure Hair utilizes only hair that has all the cuticle layers facing in the same direction from root to end and, therefore, do not tangle.

This also ensures that the extensions behave exactly like your own hair, blending in perfectly with your own hair, looking natural and undetectable. The hair much better suited for coloring, perming or straightening if necessary.

Beauty Salon / Beauty parlour Hair

Everyday Salons and beauty parlours cut hair. Due to the ever increasing cost of human hair beauty salons now sell their hair cuttings. Hair that is longer than 10 inches can be used for the purpose of making mens wigs only or to make beards, moustaches etc. The longer hair that is collected from salons is used for making ladies wigs and hair extensions but due to the use of chemical treatments like hair color,, Lightening, Hair straightening, rebonding & perming this hair is weaker than virgin hair. Also It is difficult to know the cuticle direction of such hair. This type of hair is much cheaper than virgin hair. Wigs & Hair extensions sold at lesser rates are made from such hair. Very often this type of cheaper quality hair is mixed with virgin temple hair. It is difficult to make out the difference even for a professional.

Synthetic Hair:
This man made hair is much cheaper as there is no limit to the supply. It does have other drawbacks though; the most obvious being that it will never perfectly match your own hair. Someone wanting to change their look without much expense this is a good option.
On the maintenance side, synthetic hair does have a tendency to matt excessively if you shampoo it therefore it's only really suitable for adding strands to the rest of your hair. Care has to be taken when blow drying as this type of hair can easily burn, causing it to frizz. Extra products are needed to help get your brush through the hair to prevent it from tangling

.
Natural or Human Hair.
Natural or human hair used for the purpose of making wigs or extensions comes in many varieties, and looks the most natural. The major advantage of natural hair is that it can be treated and maintained just as you would maintain your own hair. But it does have a tendency to tangle together only if not cared for properly. The cost varies according to quality of the hair.

Remi & Non remi hair

Non Remi Hair

The cuticles are present in different directions and the hair is prone to tangling and breakage due to this.

Tangle free hair

Remi or Remy hair

This refers to hair that has its cuticle intact and has been partially hand processed to maintain root tip alignment. The cuticle layers are all facing the same direction from root to end and, therefore, do not tangle. This hair is more expensive but will remain in good condition for much longer than decuticlized hair. This also ensures that the extensions behave exactly like your own hair, blending in perfectly with your own hair and looking natural. It can also be heat styled and coloured to match to your own hair colour or highlighted / low lighted easily.

Single Drawn and Double drawn Hair

The hair extensions quality is determined by the percentage full length strands available in bunch of hair. Average quality hair that is 18 inches [45cm] long may have 20% of the strands measuring 18 inches [45cm] a further 40% measuring from 14-16 inches [35-40cm] and the other 40% measuring 6-12 inches [15-30cm] All the wefts of premium or superior grades are in fact full length, meaning each strand is exactly the stated length and the thickness is equal at the root and the ends.

Remi Hair Single Drawn

This type of Remi Hair is bunched directly from the scalp by shaving the head. Care is taken to remove the very short hair, with the longer hair, found in different hair length, giving a pony tail like appearance. The hair will have 3" difference in the roots to ends that is some hair in a piece will be 3" shorter than the original length.

Remi double drawn

This means only hair of the same length. For example: a hair piece of 20 inches of Remi quality and double drawn has hair lengths of 20" only. It contains all hair of the same length no hair shorter than that. Premium quality hair extensions are made from hair strands that are all approximately the same length so the thickness of the hair should be the same all the way down its length. This is rare and expensive; such hair is called full length Double drawn hair.

Hair Wefts - Hand Made & Machine Made

A hair weft looks like a curtain of hair attached together at the top and free flowing at the bottom. Wefts can be made by machine or by hand, but the best wefts are handmade.
Handmade wefts are much thinner than machine wefts as they are excellent to sew in. They lay flat against your scalp to give you a more natural look and reduce hair bumps caused by bulky wefts. These wefts cannot be cut as the hair will start to shed at the point it is cut.
The other benefit of having them handmade is that you can match your own hair color perfectly. Handmade wefts tend to last much longer as the hair do not shed from the weft and the thickness can be varied as per requirement.
Machine made wefts have standard thickness and come in continuous widths generally one meter or by weight and are then cut to size before applying.

Guide to Using Allure Hair Clip in Extensions

Attaching Method

Step 1: Use your index fingers or a comb to make a parting in your hair. The part is known as a "Track". Generally, three tracks is the optimal amount for a full bodied look. Always follow the contour of your head. Move your fingers or comb from the front towards the back until they meet in the center of your head. The result is a "U" shaped part.
If you have long hair, it's more important to have precise neat partings. Keep loose hair out of your clips. It's uncomfortable if you catch loose hairs in the clips. Loose hairs can be pulled out of your scalp when stress or pressure is applied to the back of your head. Ensure that the clips attach neatly to small compact sections of your head. So start it off right with clean neat partings!

Step 2: Snap open the clips on the weft. To open the clips, put your index fingers behind the clip and your thumbs on the clips. Then simply push your index fingers against the clip and the clip will pop open. To close a clip, just apply a little pressure and it snaps shut.
It's very important that you place the clips on the hair below the part. This is the natural way that your hair grows. For the wefts in the back, start with the middle clip. Hold hair under the parting and snap shut. After doing the middle clip, you can then attach the two end clips.
Generally, you want to have three tracks on the backside of your head. The widest combination of wefts should be placed on the top track. The second widest combination of wefts should be placed on the second track and the most narrow combination of wefts should be placed on the lowest track.
For Example:
Lets assume you wish to have a 10 inch,8 inch and 6 inch wide weft combination as your three tracks. To get these track widths you could use a 6 inch wide weft and a 4 inch wide weft on the top track, an 8 inch wide weft on the second track and a 6 inch wide weft on the bottom track.
Step 3: Place the remainder of your pieces as needed . Many of the smaller pieces in your Allure Hair Extensions set will be remaining and these can be placed on the sides of your head or used to fill in places on the back of your head that could use extra volume.
Side pieces do not have to be placed on the same tracks that you have made on the back side of your head. Instead, feel free to place the side pieces wherever you need volume.

Caring for Allure Hair Extensions

When you are ready to remove your Allure Hair Extensions simply unsnap the clips and set aside for washing. You should not sleep in your Allure Hair Extensions. Sleeping in your extensions is uncomfortable and can cause tangling. When you are ready to wash your Allure Hair Extensions use luke warm water. Use traditional shampoo and wash by hand.

Rinse thoroughly and then use traditional conditioner. Rinse again. Set out each weft individually and allow it to dry.

Once your extensions are dry, brush with a comb or brush and place back in your plastic bag for storage.
When styling your Allure Hair Extensions you may use mousse, hair spray, gel or any other traditional hair product to get the desired look. It is typically best to use products on your Allure Hair Extensions after placement on your head to achieve a more natural look.
You can also use a hot iron on your Allure Hair Extensions. The curling process can be performed in your hand or after placement. This is up to you and depends on which method allows for the best results.

Hair Weaving / Sewn-in Weft Hair Extensions

Allure Hair makes hand made hair wefts for used for hair weaving but we do not provide the hair weaving services. Clients can buy the hair wefts from us & get them woven from someone else who offers that service.

Hair weaving is the method of adding hair by attaching to the hair at the scalp by weaving or braiding in human hair or synthetic hair. It is also known as hair integration or hair intensification. The hair weft is sewn/woven near the root area of your own hair so that it grows naturally with the hair. There are different ways to attach the Hair weaving to your hair. You can weave to the root area of the hair so that it falls naturally with your hair or you can attach mini clips to the woven area so you can use it like clip in hair extensions. If you are considering adding a weave to your natural hair, it will be very important to explore your options and understand the different effects that certain hairstyles can have on your natural locks.

Hair weaving is not suitable for people who have thin, weak hair because the process of hair weaving stresses existing hair and may make it fall out.

It is best to avoid hair weaving for a few months after chemotherapy and if you are taking medicines that weaken the hair, such as hormonal therapies or biological therapies.

Application method

Wefts are attached to the head by sewing them to a tiny braid called a track made out of your own hair. The track (known as a corn-row) runs horizontally from the temples around the back of the head. Your own hair covers the top track making the extensions invisible. The number and size of tracks matches the number and size of wefts. Once the tracks are done, the wefts are sewn to them and then your own hair is blended with and covered over the extensions. After application you have to think of the extensions as YOUR own HAIR. This application method takes about 1-2 hours to apply.

Wefts of hair can be removed, the braids tightened or redone and the wefts sewn back onto the hair and the same hair wefts can be reused again.
Another option is to cut the wefts of hair to the required widths. The extensions are then stuck to your scalp just below the parting using special adhesive which holds it firmly. You can wash swim or style your hair normally for up to two weeks. After that you may have to redo it as the glue wears off and the extensions may fall off. It is removed using a solvent and can be reapplied later.

Advantages

This method is low maintenence to look after and can be preferred to individual strands. As it is on the weft you do not lose strands. This does not suit extremely fine hair types. Its more suited to normal thickness to thick hair types.

Maintenence

Every 6-7 weeks the wefts need to be tightened as your own hair grows and the weft becomes loose.. This is a simple process and easy similar to the first time application. All the hair we offer can be re-used for the next applications.

Disadvantages of Hair Extensions

When long, very heavy extensions are added, it applies additional pressure to your scalp as well as your own hair which may cause thinning of your natural hair. Sometimes clients complain of headaches from the added weight of the hair or allergies to the bonding glue that is used. Hence clients who have tried out various methods of extensions prefer clip on hair extensions due to the ease of application, comfort of using it only when you want to and no external product is applied to the hair or the scalp.

After care of Hair Extensions

Always brush out all knots before you wash your hair, swim, or sleep. Start at the bottom and work your way up slowly using a paddle brush.Wash, condition and moisturize your hair every few days. The extensions do not receive your natural scalp oils and so need to have moisture added during every wash. If you don't moisturize your hair extensions they will become brittle and break easily leading to dry hair and split ends. Treat them carefully, do not pull them with a brush, burn them with the blow dryer, and abuse them with chemicals. Remember they will not grow again.

Hair Extensions FAQ's

How much hair do I need for a full head weave on type hair extensions?

We usually recommend 2 packs for a full install under 20" in length. The longer the length the shorter the tracks will be on the hair weaves. This means you have less coverage with 2 packs of hair if you decide to go for a length longer than 20 inches. In this case, we would recommend you purchase a third pack for safe measure. It's always better to have a little extra rather than not enough. There's nothing worse than going to your hairstylist appointment and not having enough hair to finish the install. If you don't use all of your hair, you can always use it to touch up your install or for a future installation down the road
For lengths over 20" or 22" it us not uncommon for customers to purchase a 3rd pack of hair. Most of our customers go in for lengths in between 10" to 20" and 2 packs of hair has turned out to be more than sufficient in most cases.

How Much Hair Do I Need for a Full Weave?

One of our most commonly asked questions is "how much hair do I need to buy for a full weave." There are a couple of things you should know about our virgin Indian hair. The quantity of each pack of hair is measured by the weight, our packs are 100 grams each. Virgin Indian hair also has natural variation at the ends, which may cause the bundle of hair to look thinned out at the ends. Most customers prefer this because it makes the hair look more natural and pure.

Now for our recommendations. 2 packs are recommended if choosing a length 18 inches or less. For lengths longer than 18 inches we may recommend a third pack for fullness. The longer the length of hair, the shorter the width of the track end to end, this means you will need more hair for more coverage for more volume and fullness. If in doubt, always get a third pack for safe measure, it's better to have a little extra rather than not enough during your hair appointment. Whatever you don't use you can save for your next install or a touch up down the road. Please keep in mind that our curly hair is naturally much more thicker than straight or wavy hair. This means you may not need as much hair for a full look.

The amount of hair you need also depends on personal preference and your budget if you have one. There is a very small percentage of customers that feel they need a 3rd pack at any length because they simply like their hair very, very full.

Also, since the hair is considered to be an investment, this may also be a factor in your decision.

Wigs & Hair pieces Washing & Maintenance Guide

Since hair is the most important thing of natural looking wigs / hairpieces, it must be cared better than most people maintain their own hair.

There is a lot you can do to increase the life of your wigs / hairpieces. Generally, there is no specific time when a wig should be washed. The frequency of washing will depend on factors such as how long you wear it, sweating, pollution and humidity, as it does with your own hair. All wigs need washing and repairs periodically to keep them looking fresh and natural for both technical and personal hygienic reason.Sweat if not be cleaned properly and bad hygiene can lead to skin problems like fungal infection of the scalp. A wig / hair piece requires regular hair shampooing and conditioning. Always keep your scalp/own hair clean when wearing your wig to reduce washing frequency.

Do not attempt to clean your wig while in a rush to avoid mistakes and incorrect care of your wig. When washing / cleaning and drying your wig, complete the entire washing and drying process when you start it til it is completely done. DO NOT wash wig, lie it down and resume maintenance at a later date or time. Your custom wig is delicate and deserves proper care and your full attention. To ensure the best results, complete all maintenance steps washing, conditioning, drying one after the other.

Always use luke warm or cold water to wash the wig. Hot or very warm water may damage the hair shaft, causing the hair to tangle and look dry.

Before Washing the Wig

Gently comb out tangles and any hair spray or other styling product that you may have used.

For tight curls or all over curls, do not use a brush. Use your fingers or a wide tooth detangling comb to pick through to remove tangles.

Brush the hair from bottom up, meaning take a section near the neck & brush the hair first. Then go up section by section.

When brushing, always start brushing at the ends working up towards the root area.

Always brush gently, excessive brushing or force will cause hair breakage.

Wide tooth detangling combs

Natural bristle brush for wigs, hair extensions, hair toppers

Denman D82L Large natural bristle brush. The D82 Range with Natural 100% bristles is ideal for smoothing, polishing and adding shine to the hair.

Your wig can be washed by wearing on your head or by fixing the wig, on a wooden dummy or Styrofoam (thermocole) dummy. As the wig is made with hair tightly knotted to the net base the hair may come out of the net holes from the opposite side. Hence to prevent this it should be fitted on a dummy head or wash it wearing on your own head. Brush the hair from bottom up. When brushing, always start brushing at the ends working up to the root area. Always brush gently, excessive brushing or force will cause hair breakage.

Washing Technique

Allure Hair wigs should always washed either by keeping it on the head or on a correct size of dummy head. This is because the hair is knotted tightly to the net base and gets pulled to the inside and can come out from the opposite side (inner side of the wig). By placing it on a dummy head or on your own head you do not give the hair a chance to come out from the other side.

If your scalp is very oily or tape residue or adhesive buildup is stuck into net base material. Using 'kitchen spray hose' or shower with force is helpful.
Lightly spray warm water (positioned as close as possible to hair side of wig) through wig foundation. This will force stuck adhesive to loosen and flow to underside of wig.

Part the hair in two sections down the middle of head and two sections from ear to ear. So totally 4 sections. Gently shampoo each section of head hair in an easy orderly fashion.

You must gradually wet the hair down and brush it gently before you completely wash the hair.

If the hair is very dry and a lot of water is added at once, hair will swell up like sponge and may tangle.

Massage shampoo onto the hair line to remove oil and other residue. Gently massage shampoo onto your wig. NEVER rub hair or roughly manipulate the hair in the same manner as you might do your natural hair.

Your wig must be handled gently for best results and avoig tangling .

When washing, you should simply be washing and rinsing away the build up of the hair products you have been using on your wig.

DO NOT BRUSH OR COMB HAIR PIECE WHILE IT IS STILL WET AS THE MOISTURE EXPANDS, LOOSENS AND OPENS THE HAND TIED KNOTS AND PLENTY OF HAIRLOSS MAY OCCUR.

Which Shampoo should be uesd to wash?

Always use shampoo with low pH on your wig. A professional product will mention right on the bottle that it has a ph level of 4.5 to 5.5. This is important because, if a shampoo is too acidic or too alkaline, it can be damaging to the wig hair and your natural hair also. Some shampoos will mention that their product is pH balanced but not give the actual pH level.

We suggest using shampoos and conditioners from reputed manufacturers like Wella, L'oreal, Schwarzkopf, Keune, Matrix Biolage, Toni & Guy. Among the Indian brands Sunsilk, Clinic, Dabur, Himalaya can also be used. These professional grade products have a low pH level.

Always use a detangler on your wet hair. Some women prefer to use a detangler before and after washing hair and prefer to leave conditioner in their hair while drying to give it extra softness.

After wetting the hair, add diluted shampoo on the hair. Be sure to wash and rinse the hair completely with water. Then use a conditioner on the hair. Work mixture through wig hair in the same direction, leave it for 10 minutes. Rinse with fresh water. ALWAYS rinse root area well. Conditioner or shampoo remaining at the root area will cause bacteria to grow.

Wash the hair immediately after brisk walk, exercise, work out etc.. When dirt and sweat accumulate, hair tangles.

Excessive leave-in conditioners and other hair care products will create a build up on the hair and make it limp. If the hair feels dry or heavy with buildup, wash it with good shampoo & conditioner.

Wrap in a towel and gently squeeze out excess water. do not twist or brush wig when it is wet. It is best to air dry the hair but you can also blow-dry with low to medium heat.

Make sure you brush the hair regularly and apply some leave-in conditioners so that the hair is soft and moist. A good leave-in hair treatment can keep the hair from drying. But remember not to put too much otherwise there will be a build up and make the hair feel too heavy. If the hair feels too dry or heavy with too much hair care products, you should wash the hair to reduce the excess products.

Make few big braids when going to sleep or exercise (please untangle the hair before making the braids). NEVER SLEEP ON

WET HAIR. Make sure the hair is completely dry before going to bed.

Though most of our wigs, hair extensions & hair pieces are made with natural virgin hair , in case you notice color bleeding in the first few washes do not panic and think that we have used colored har. The color bleeds from the dark colored net base and the tapes from which the wig base is made. After a few washes , this will not happen.

Drying your wig

The best way to dry a wig after it is washed & conditioned is by allowing it to dry naturally. But if you have only one wig & short of time then the wig can be dried with a hand held hair drier or keep under a hair dryer while keeping it on a dummy head or set on a mannequin head to air dry.

DO NOT put wig in a washing machine or a clothes dryer to dry.

Human hair is lot more difficult to take care of, although it is the most natural and durable of all material from which wigs are made, because each time it gets wet, it will lose the style, just as your own hair does. The only styles that would be fairly easy to take care of would be if the wig has a good perm in it, and is worn with a styling product like mousse and scrunched without using anything else to style it. Also if you wear your hair in a straight, smooth style, a human hair wig would be ok. Otherwise, some kind of heat would have to be used to style it.

DO NOT use very hot curling iron, straightening iron or hair dryer on the wig.
DO NOT wear the wig near sources of excessive heat, such as an open oven, boiling water, barbeque grill and other uncontrolled high heat sources.
Never use any alcohol based styling aids as they will dry the hair.

Friction from couch or pillows causes the hair to tangle (use a smooth pillow cover).

SWIMMING- Do not wear the wig while swimming. In case you have to wear it, always wear a cap over the wig. Chlorine in the water will cause the natural hair color to fade and the hair becomes dry & brittle and tangle easily. The wig must be washed and conditioned immediately after swimming if it has got wet.

You can continue to do your usual activities with your wig on. But please avoid swimming or getting the wig wet with water or sweat for 24 hours after applying adhesives or tapes. When your wig is applied correctly, the adhesive should not lift your wig while swimming, but the sheer weight of your loose wet hair can cause tension on your wig's front hairline. In order to avoid "lifting" when swimming, either braid their hair into a singe or two ponytails to keep their hair "organized" and manageable while swimming- the hair is less heavy.

Sauna- Wrap hair in a cold, wet towel before entering. Let it air-dry.
Exercise- We recommend first brushing hair thoroughly from the ends to roots. Spray with leave in conditioner, make a few large braids or brush hair into a ponytail secure with fabric coated rubber bands. Hair should be shampooed following intense activities.

Even if you wash your own wig regularly, occasional professional styling is important. We offer a complete after-sales facility only for wigs made by us, for washing, styling, coloring and refilling of hair as and when it is needed.

The hair on my wig  gets tangled at the base when I wash the wig. Why does it happen & what should I do to avoid it?

If your wig tangles into a hard knot, it is for one reason only: the cuticles in that area are not properly aligned and are going in opposite directions. When the hair "swells" due to moisture, humidity or both, it can cause tangling that most clients maybe unable to remove on their own without damaging the hair.

All hand knotted wigs made by Allure Hair have 2-3 inches of folded hair to make the hair knot to tie the hair firmly to the net base. This does it indicate a manufacturing defect or that short hair has been used to make the wig.

Whenever the hair cuticle is present, you would risk matting and tangling issues. This is because the cuticle on the hair shaft is like tiles on a roof. When the cuticle is closed and the hair is healthy, the tiles lie fairly flat, but when the cuticle is opened or damaged, some of the cuticles stick up. On normal hair growing out of the head, all the strands of hair have the cuticle facing the same way - downwards. When you knot hair onto a wig, which has cuticle intact hair that has been kept with the root-to-tip alignment, you end up with the long main part of the hair strand hanging with the cuticle as it would be on your head, downwards; however, on the return, the hair strand is now upside down with the cuticle facing upwards.

When the cuticle gets raised up due to the use hot water, shampoo on the hair or becomes damaged, then the parts of the cuticle facing downwards can hold against the return hair which has the cuticle facing upwards and cause tangling or matting issues.

Wig storage

Wig stand

Styrofoam Head

Keep your wig on a wig stand or a styrofoam mannequin when you are not wearing it.

Wig stands made of cane are inexpensive and easily available.

To dry the net base if it is damp due to sweat you may place the wig inside out on the wig stand to allow the cap to dry faster.

Refilling & Repair of old wigs, toppers & men’s replacement system

We offer a refilling & repair facility only for wigs made by us on full payment of the estimated charges in advance.

When there is reduction in density of hair & if the net base is in good condition, the wig is not too old ( not more than a year old) & will not get damaged during the refilling process we accept do it. This is completely at our discretion & done only when we are not busy with new orders.

A human hair wig generally loses hair & hair density is reduced at the parting line and crown area through the normal pressure of combing and brushing. Adding new hair to a hair piece may be necessary to restore its natural appearance.

Refilling of hair in the wig is necessary when the net base becomes visible as the density of the hair reduces after prolonged use due to breakage and shedding in a year or so or earlier due to incorrect use, washing &rough handling.

It is possible to add new hair to match the original density to old hairpieces but not all old units can be repaired. If the unit has lost most of its hair, then the unit is not worth repairing. It’s almost like making a new unit.
Try to pull the existing hair and see if the hair roots break easily. If the hair roots looks break easily, then the unit is not worth a refill & repair.

If net the base is not strong enough to knot & hold new hair.

If you have just kept the hair system for a few months, it is usually not worth repairing unless it is not used very often.
So before you send it to us, you can first check it to see if it is possible so you don’t waste your time and money sending it over to us.

Hair Loss in Women - Common Causes

Hair loss is mostly not a cosmetic problem and has to be analyzed and treated medically. Hair and beauty salons can only offer limited relief by recommending hair oils, massages, shampoos & hair treatment products. It is best to seek medical opinion for such cases.

Alopecia is the medical term for excessive or abnormal hair loss. This is a sign that something is wrong with your body.

Hair loss may simply be a reaction to a short-term event such as stress, pregnancy, hormonal imbalance, certain medications or lifestyle factors can cause a change in the hair growth and shedding phases. Once the remedy to the cause is dealt with, hair goes back to their pattern of growth and shedding, and abnormal hair loss stops. In these situations, hair will grow back once the phase has passed.

Medical conditions involving hormonal imbalances
Androgen sensitivity (resulting in Androgenetic Alopecia)
Menopause
Thyroid disorders
PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome)
Lifestyle factors
Immune system irregularities (resulting in Alopecia Areata)
Physical and/or emotional stress (resulting in Telogen Effluvium)
Nutritional deficiencies (especially protein, iron, zinc or vitamin A)
Lack of sleep
Chemotherapy treatments (resulting in Anagen Effluvium)
Reactional Hair Loss: Physical or emotional stress can trigger hair loss whether people are going to lose hair or not.

When stress causes hair loss in women who do not have hereditary hair loss, the effects are not usually permanent; but in women who have hereditary hair loss, stress can actually speed up the process. The stress experienced must be quite severe before it leads to hair loss. Examples of severe stress are death of a loved one, break up of marriage, strenuous sports, training, severe illness or drastic weight loss, surgeries and emotional stress. The body simply shuts down production of hair during periods of stress since it is not necessary for survival and instead devotes its energies towards repairing vital body structures. You may notice excessive hair shedding 4 weeks to 3 months after an illness, surgery, high fever or severe flu.
These conditions cause hair to shift rapidly into a resting phase, meaning you will see less new hair growth. A normal amount of hair typically will appear after the growth phase resumes. This means that the total hair loss and re-growth cycle can last 6 months or possibly longer when induced by physical and emotional stress.

There are other health conditions which may go undetected that can contribute to hair loss. This includes anemia, low blood count and thyroid abnormalities. Both of these conditions can be detected by a simple, inexpensive blood tests.

Female pattern baldness affects many more women now.
Stressful lifestyles, the competitive need to prove one’s self, long work hours and bad diet have devastating effects on one’s body and usually shows itself in the hair cycle. Stress becomes a part of our daily life styles. The hair shaft provides very important clues to disorders such as congenital defects, external damage to the hair, general illness, and areas which may be developing baldness. Fungal infections of the scalp will often be detected at the hair shaft.

Seborrheic dermatitis is a fluctuating complaint often aggravated by emotional stress. Unless the underlying cause is found and the problem treated, this can also contribute to hair loss.

If you are experiencing hair loss, have a hair analysis done to find out any nutritional deficiencies or toxic metal contamination. As hair is formed, available minerals and amino acids circulating in the blood are constituted in the hair.

A hair analysis can therefore provide facts of your mineral status and pick up any exposure to toxic metals.

All forms of undereating, skipping meals, or eating only limited foods will lead to poor nutrition and eventually, to problems from protein, calorie, vitamin, or mineral deficiencies. Other symptoms include lack of energy and subsequent weakness, malnourishment of internal organs, skin problems, and hair loss. Severe weight loss in spite of regular eating may indicate an underlying medical condition and requires an evaluation by a doctor.

It's clear that a high-fat, meat-based diet raises testosterone levels, and that may adversely affect hair follicles.

Eating low-fat foods will not stop hair loss, but it might slow it down.Get to the bottom of what's causing the loss of hair and then prescribe the appropriate action.

When hair loss is accompanied by internal heat symptoms such as dry skin, insomnia, red eyes, and irritability, it indicates yin deficiency—dehydration of blood and body fluids, hormone imbalance, or other causes. Blood-building herbs can have good effects when they nourish the source of the hair—blood, bone marrow, the liver and kidneys—especially combined with herbs that increase circulation in the head.

Types of female pattern baldness

Female Pattern Baldness: (medically known as Androgen Dependant Alopecia)

A condition where male hormones are believed to be the cause.
Women produce male hormones from the adrenal glands. As many women have a similar baldness pattern to men, they are said to have Androgen dependant Alopecia. Virilization (virilization means the biological development of sex differences, changes which make a male body different from a female body) can result in facial hairs, recession of the scalp hair and thinning on the top area of the scalp. This condition can also be caused by ovarian tumours. An excessive amount of androgens are produced giving rise to a masculinising effect. This can easily be corrected by medical treatment.
It is only when the scalp shows through on the top of the head that we really start to become concerned, usually at menopause. The hair loss has actually taken place over a long period, and the hair suddenly becomes more unmanageable.

This can be avoided if the situation is halted when the problem starts.

Hair loss in females can begin as early as puberty. Although these changes are hormone dependant they should not be confused with development of pattern baldness. Hormonal imbalances can be the cause of noticeable thinning in teenagers.

The rapid changes the body is undergoing from child to womanhood can play havoc with the hormonal system and in turn affect the hair growth system. If the hair loss were to continue or become excessive or diffuse, hormone levels should be checked. This is a very stressful time in a young girl’s life. Peer pressure and academic demands can lead to very high stress levels during the school and varsity years. Hair loss is common at this stage of a young girls life.

Diffuse Pattern Alopecia: is a type of hair loss most common in women. The hair tends to become thinner rather than making bald patches. One will not see a shiny patch without hair. It is more likely that every other hair is missing. This usually occurs across the top of the head and near the front (rarely on the sides.) This progressive hair loss can be either gradual or intermittent and you may notice hair becoming less manageable. 25% of Caucasian women who have reached their forties experience thinning and recession. The percentage increases as women head towards their fifties. 50% of fifty plus women have thinning hair. The degree of loss seldom reaches that of male pattern baldness.

Post partum (Post pregnancy) Alopecia:

Losing a lot of hair post-pregnancy is common. As the hormone levels are elaveted during pregnancy it prevents normal hairfall during that period. Once you have delivered your baby, it often happens that these hormonal changes are reversed and you start losing a lot of hair all of a sudden -- there's not much to do except wait it out. Many types of stress may drive the anagen hair follicles prematurely into the telogen phase, resulting in an increased shedding of club hairs. This “telogen effluvium” is the response of the hair follicle to altered physiological states such as pregnancy. This condition will usually manifest itself three to four months after childbirth. A difficult child birth or sleep deprivation can cause tremendous stress to the mother and emotional stress can alter the normal balance of amino acids and proteins necessary for normal hair growth. The amount of hair lost can depend on the severity of the stress and partly on the individual’s susceptibility to it. Don't panic, because your hair growth and hairfall patterns will eventually return to normal. If the hair loss shows no sign of letting up, however, you may want to consult a doctor.

Physical Stress: Telogen Effluvium.
Acute stress causes diffuse hair loss, of classical telogen effluvium type hair loss.
The stress can be the result of an acute illness, high fever, trauma, an accident or injury, or surgery, particularly when there is severe blood loss or shock. The stress causes a number of follicles to change suddenly from the anagen or growing stage into the telogen phase. Two to four months later, following the normal cyclic pattern, diffuse shedding of hair begins. The amount of hair loss varies, but hair loss will continue for six weeks even if stress does not continue. When diffuse hair loss arises as a result of prolonged stress, it is probably the increased production of the adrenal gland hormone. Physiological stress will register in the hypothalamus which in turn can bring about :
1) An increase in the production of adrenaline through its effect of stress on the sympathetic nervous system. In other words, the woman’s body increases the production of adrenal gland hormones. This causes diffuse hair loss.
2) An increase in the production of gluco-corticiods through its effect of stress on the pituitary glands. The increased production will raise women’s blood sugar level, hence leading to a diabetic state.

The body can usually cope adequately with short term stress, so that diffuse hair loss may be the result. Prolonged stress may prove too much , and ulcers and baldness can occur. Starting with small patches ( Alopecia Areata ) and eventually, if not treated as soon as it has started, can lead to (Alopecia Totalis) A visit to a physician is necessary to determine to the causative factor. Counselling is also advisable. Vitamin supplements containing high vitamin B -Complex, Vitamin Supplement which is included in the treatment for acute hair loss, can reverse the breakdown in the hair cycle and can help you to regain your hair. If this condition is not arrested it can lead to more trauma which in turn can lead to the immune system breaking down. This in turn can be the result of (Alopecia Universalis)

Thyroid problems, anaemia, the birth control pill, anti-cancer drugs, mechanical trauma, physiological and physical abuse, alcoholism, drug abuse, venereal diseases such as syphilis, endocrine dysfunction , emotional stress, physical stress, nutritional disorders are all contributing factors for hair loss.

Chemical Alopecia
Hair loss due to chemical abuse
Hair loss can be experienced by females due to wrong use of chemicals by salon operators. Unless the harshness of chemicals is properly understood, devastating consequences like root damage and hair breakage can occur. High pH alkaline products such as relaxers with a pH exceeding 15 can result in scalp burns which in turn can result in scarring alopecia.

In some instances this can cause permanent damage, depending on the thickness of the lesions. Immediate treatment on the weeping scars can result in hair growth recovery. Some Anti-Dandruff Shampoos and Coal Tar healing products both contain an anti-fungal and antiseptic, plus healing properties especially formulated to assist in the minimising of scarring and infections.

Other forms of hair loss can be experienced through high volume peroxide which is sometimes used to bleach, highlight or 'lift' the hair colour. Permanent waving can also have damaging effects, especially if the perm lotion exceeds a pH of 9. (Recommended pH for hard to wave hair). The milder the lotion the kinder it is to the hair and scalp. Today's formulas are designed for hair to be permed with much lower pH levels.

Mechanical Alopecia
This is commonly caused through the use of hot curlers, hair which is pulled too tightly when setting with conventional curlers, as well as sleeping with curlers nightly to straighten the hair.
Hot combs and tongs cannot only burn the scalp but can cause hair loss. Braiding and extensions which weigh the hair down cause stress on the hair which will, in time, result in hair loss. It is important to note that when tying up children's hair it should not be pulled too tightly as this can result in the entire hair line receeding.

Other possible contributors to female hair loss or hair thinning in women may include:

Anemia
Any hypothalamic or pituitary disorder (glands in the brain)
Any thyroid, liver, adrenal or ovarian disorder
Childbirth
Drug toxicity - anesthesia, chemotherapy
Eating disorder - anorexia, bulimia
Essential fatty acid deficiency
Protein deficiency (common with vegetarian diets)
Severe infection
Severe stress
Starting or stopping birth control pills
Various medications, including bromocriptine, beta blockers, ACE inhibitors, amphetamines, anticholesterol agents
Mineral or vitamin deficiency - zinc, manganese, iron, vitamin B6, biotin
Perms, hair color, bleach, improper brushing/combing, hair styles that pull on the hair
Autoimmune disease such as lupus
Any sex steroid imbalance such as low progesterone, estrogen dominance
Allergies
Recent hepatitis B shot

Nutrition required for healthy hair.

Mostly people resort to treatments like hair oils, hair spa, massages at home or at salons for their hair loss. Very rarely such treatments give success.

The main reason why most hair treatments fail is because the treatment carried out is cosmetic in nature. Hair loss has to be treated internally and externally for it to be successful. Hormonal imbalance and incorrect dietary habits are the main causes.

Natural essential fatty acids counteract hormones and toxic agents which cause hair loss.Natural essential fatty acids are available in vegetable sources but are heat sensitive and destroyed at temperatures of 45°C or lower. Eating over cooked and processed foods can limit their absorption. Heat treated animal or vegetable fat can go rancid in the body, bye pass the liver's detoxifying process by getting into the lymph stream via the intestine, and do cellular damage in the body.

Impure or toxic blood can also cause hair loss. Hair that is limp and fine can benefit from proper nutrition program as the nutrition necessary for healthy hair growth is contained in some nutritional supplements.

Many clients have found that in order to get through the in-between stage of growing their hair to a longer hairstyle, nutritional supplements have proved very beneficial in the acceleration of growth thereby assisting over the hurdle of the unmanageable stage helping the hair to strengthen and also to grow in a shorter period of time. Nutritional supplements supply the body with necessary nutrients which are essential but missed out in daily diet. Nutritional supplements when consumed in right quantity have no side effects that have been experienced.

Eating a healthy, balanced diet rich in proteins, vitamins (especially biotin) and minerals (particularly zinc) are, therefore, extremely necessary to prevent hair loss. Consume plenty of dal, soybean, paneer, channa, egg whites, white meat like chicken or fish, nuts and leafy vegetables. If your work schedule is uncertain and you do not know when you will eat your next meal, consult your doctor to prescribe protein and multivitamin supplements.

We can blame the typical diet for yet another unfavorable thing: Hair loss. High-fat, high-animal protein and high-salt diet damages the kidneys and creates acidic blood, thereby leading to hair loss.

The typical fast food diet is also usually low in vitamins. This lifestyle leads to vitamin deficiency, which is another cause of hair loss. Due to the globalization of fast food chains and the processed diet, hair loss is very common wherever people eat such foods regularly.

If your diet is relatively healthy, you may have to scrutinize other potential causes and use the process of elimination to determine the cause of your hair loss.

Eating a diet high in fruits and vegetables and low in starch may slow down the hair loss process

Eat a diet high in fruits and vegetables and low in starch. This may help to slow down the process of hair loss. Fruits and vegetables contain flavonoids, many of which are antioxidants that may provide protection for the hair follicles and encourage hair growth.

Vitamins and Nutrients for Hair Growth
No matter how often hair is washed, conditioned and brushed, essential hair vitamins are necessary for it to look healthy.

Hair growth vitamins, along with special vitamins and nutrients for hair growth, promoting the shine and condition of hair, can be purchased in nearly every pharmacy and health food shop.

A healthy diet rich in protein, water and fresh fruits and vegetables is necessary to keep hair looking healthy and shiny.

Hair consists of mainly proteins (97%) so if you adopt a healthy lifestyle not only your body but also your hair will benefit from it. Gently massaging the scalp with oils and drinking plenty of fluids will help keep the hair follicles (producing hair growth) on the scalp stimulated. Combined with a protein and vitamin rich diet this will enable the body to produce hair and keep hair looking healthy and glossy.

Eating more protein will help make hair thicker if you have very fine or thin hair. Damaged hair due to excessive hair dying or styling with hot styling appliances or blow drying, can make her look dull and will cause split hair ends. If this problem occurs the only way to deal with the problem is to cute the damaged ends off, and incorporate lots of zinc and vitamin C into your diet, while moisturising the hair regularly with a good conditioner or weekly hair mask. The following vitamins for hair growth are needed to keep hair healthy looking and to encourage growth:
Protein, found mainly in cold water fish such as salmon.
Minerals (zinc in particular, found in red meats, bran flakes and cocoa).
Vitamins, especially Biotin, found in liver, eggs, nuts and carrots.
Vitamins/Nutrients that Prevent Hair from Falling Out
The following vitamins will stimulate and feed the hair follicle to encourage it to produce hair growth, and can be helpful when experiencing hair loss. Vitamins for hair loss can be found in many different vegetables and other foods that we eat every day. Taking a vitamin supplement providing nutrients for hair growth can be a solution for people with a busy lifestyle and provide additional vitamins to nurture health and hair.
Iron (found in red meats and leafy vegetables such as spinach).
Vitamin C, found in all citrus fruits, especially lime.
B-vitamins, especially Biotin.
Zinc will stimulate the blood circulation and encourages follicles to grow hair.
Vitamins/Nutrients to Prevent Grey Hair:
Greying hair is caused by a lack of phenylalanine, an amino acid that, in combination with enzymes in the hair, turns into melanin, the pigment that is responsible for coloring the hair. Phenylalanine is found in nuts and all dairy products, meats and eggs. Continue to more info on nutrients for hair growth.

Many people who are trying to lose weight report suffering a strange condition that causes hair to fall out much faster than normal. This may be mysterious to most people losing weight, especially on strong weight loss pills, because they work by suppressing appetite. When the appetite is suppressed, less calories are eaten, and most people who are overweight don't like to eat protein in the first place, so that's the first food they stop eating. Without protein intake, the body attempts to eat its own protein, including muscle fiber, hair and nails. So make sure you eat at least 20g of protein per meal, even during weight loss.

Eyebrows and Eyelashes

We take orders to make eyebrows only along with order for making wig from us.

Replacing Eyebrows and eyelashes due to chemotherapy

Eyebrows are a significant aspect of our appearance. They are one of the most distinctive features that make our faces, and we pay a lot of attention to them. Eyebrows are also one of our most expressive facial features.

Many people experience eyebrow loss/thinning due to over plucking, sparseness or thinning due to age. Also there are medical conditions that can contribute to losing your eyebrows, chemotherapy, alopecia, and hormonal conditions.

Eyebrows create a frame for our face. Properly shaped eyebrows can make your eyes look larger and our demeanor more inviting and expressive.

At Allure Hair we now can offer you a natural solution to eyebrow loss / thinning. No powders, pencils, stencils or temporary tattoo's just 100% natural real looking brows.

At Allure Hair we have 100% hand tied lace eyebrows.

The closest thing to natural brows ever developed. Realistic appearance, meticulously hand-made, easy to apply, classic shape, re-usable, sturdy, and easily re-movable.

HOW EYEBROWS WORK?

Allure Hair eyebrows come in the classic shape which easily conforms to the shape of your face and fitting over thinning brows.
Allure Hair eyebrows can simply be adjusted to your face by using a small scissor to snip the ends of each brow to the desired length.

APPLICATION EASILY MADE?

Apply a sufficient layer of special adhesive onto the back of your Allure hair eyebrows. Let it dry 20 to 30 seconds until it's slightly tacky. Place the brow against your natural brow line. Gently but firmly press along the brow to secure.

REMOVAL

Gently peel away your brow from your eyebrow. Remove the residue from your brow with a mild mascara or make-up cleaner.

BROW GUIDE PLACEMENT

The eyebrow should start directly above the inner corner of the eye.
So the highest point should be just a bit beyond the center of your eye. The brow should end above the outer corner of the eye.

COLOR SELECTION

Blonde, Medium Brown, Dark Brown, Black

CHOOSING A BROW COLOR

Brows should be approximately the color of your base color of your hair. Or up to 2 shades lighter than your hair.
Blondes and Grey hair tones should select a color slightly darker than there hair color.

Eyebrows

If you lose your eyebrows or find that they are thinner, you can redraw them with an eyebrow pencil that matches your normal hair colour. Eyebrow pencils are available from any chemist or beauty shop. Beauty counters in department stores can show you how to redraw your eyebrows as it can be daunting to try this at first if you are not used to it.Whether to replace your eyebrows and lashes is a personal decision: Some women choose not to bother, and some feel comfortable when they look in the mirror and see the eyebrows and lashes they expect to see.
If you are accustomed to running an eyebrow pencil over your brows to thicken or darken them, you may do fine when it comes time to draw them on from scratch. To make the eyebrows as realistic and natural looking as possible follow the natural eyebrow arch and draw in short feathery strokes that look like the normal eyebrow hair. If you've never used an eyebrow pencil, you may want to buy one before treatment begins and pay attention to that bony arch above each eye. Make the brow thicker on the inner end of the eyebrow (nearest to the nose) and thinner at the outer edge. You can actually buy a set of eyebrow stencils and play around, seeing what shape suits you.
You can also use false eyebrows. These are available with us. They need to be fixed with special adhesive, which is available from the false eyebrow suppliers. Special solvent is used to dissolve the adhesive and remove the eyebrows.
Some people opt for permanent cosmetics, or tattooed eyebrows. If you prefer that, make an appointment before your eyelashes fall out so that it can match the color and shape of your natural brows. This can be done in tattooing shops or cosmetic salons.

Eyelashes

You could invest in a pair of false eyelashes or glue on false lashes one at a time, though that strikes us as a lot of trouble. You could also put a little eyeliner on the edge of each upper and lower lid. Another option is tattooed eyeliner, which you would have forever.
False eyelashes can be used to give a natural appearance. These are available from many beauty departments along with the adhesive that is used to attach them. We can show you how to apply the eyelashes. You could invest in a pair of false eyelashes or glue on false lashes one at a time, though you may feel that takes a lot of trouble. You could also put a little eyeliner on the edge of each upper and lower lid.

Hair Loss due to Chemotherapy & managing it.

Sometimes we only think of hair as something that provides a fashion statement. Hair is actually on our body to provide warmth and protection.

When there are exposed areas of the skin where hair has been lost, it is helpful to use sunscreen to protect these sensitive areas. Wearing wigs, scarves, and hats will help to provide the warmth and protection necessary from the sun exposure.

If eyelashes have been lost, the use of glasses or sunglasses will help to protect you eyes from debris and dust. Ask your doctor to prescribe some drops for your eyes if they become dry and irritated.

Sometimes there can be sinus and nasal irritation if the hairs in the nose have been lost. It is sometimes helpful to use a special ointment in the nose to help to prevent irritation. The nose hairs are there to provide protection from germs and dust. If you are experiencing problems, you should ask your physician to recommend something that will help you with this situation.

As you go through this part of your life and look into treatment options for your cancer and lifestyle options during/post treatment, the most important resource you have is your friends and family. From emotional support to advice and confidence, you know that your friends and family are an invaluable part of your support system.

This is absolutely true when it comes to chosing out your perfect wig. You need opinions, advice, and people who aren’t afraid to tell you "that does not look right or does not suit you, my dear; maybe a different one?" Contact all those who have worn wigs in the past or who know people who did and get as much advice and counsel as you can. Feedback from those people who we trust the most is always good and helpful.

1. Does chemotherapy always make the hair fall?

No, it all depends on the drugs that are used. Those drugs that are given to cure digestive cancers, for instance, generally do not cause hair loss, whereas those that cure breast cancer usually do. It also depends on personal characteristics: some scalps are more receptive than others to toxic agents, which means that the same treatment can have different effects from one patient to another.

Hair loss doesn’t just involve the scalp hair. It affects hair on all parts of the body; pubic hair falls out too. So do eyelashes, eyebrows, leg hair, armpit hair, and nose hair.

2I want to understand what causes the hair loss

Anti cancer chemotherapies kill every dividing cell, whether it is malignant or healthy. Their intervention is therefore not selective: they can also block the hair stem cells' activity in the hair follicle. Here is why:

- In normal times, those stem cells divide themselves at a fast pace (the fastest in the body) into “daughter cells”, which will then produce the hair’s keratin.

- With some anticancer agents, the division process is suddenly stopped, the birth and multiplication of young cells stops and the hair starts to fall a few days after the beginning of the treatment.

- But because the stem cells are not affected, cellular activity resumes, as of the end of the treatment, and the hair always grows back.

3.Do you advise me to have my hair cut before I start chemotherapy…

That will not keep your hair from falling if it has to fall.  It is however a practical tip in any case, because:

- If you later wear a wig, it will get you used to having short hair, before the treatment. Ideally, you would have your hair cut and would choose your wig at the same time, so that they correspond to each other. That will help you to better psychologically deal with the moment when your hair starts to fall.

- If you wear a cooling helmet, a short hair cut increases its chances of being effective.

- Finally, if your hair only falls partially, daily care (brushing and untangling) and shampooing will be easier and less painful.

4. My chemotherapy is in process, I have no hair left, and my scalp hurts

Your scalp is in pain because of the excessive toxins present under your skin. It needs to be gently massaged in order to release its local micro tensions, as well as relax and revitalise it.

5. I have just finished my treatment, when will my hair grow back?

Regrowing varies depending on the substances taken in. Some are very rapidly evacuated by the organism, in which case the hair immediately starts growing back. For others, it is necessary to wait a bit. But in most cases, regrowing hair starts to appear in various places of the scalp by the end of the first month. Then, an average growth of one centimeter per month is to be expected.

6. Can wearing a wig affect regrowing of hair?

No. Wigs are sufficiently ventilated and light to let the scalp breath and not affect the hair growth underneath the wig.

7. My hair does not grow as well as it did before...

It is true: whereas for some, the new hair’s quality is instantly identical (and sometimes superior) to before the treatment, for others, the regrowing process goes through transitional hair that is different:

. either thinner and less dense,
. or white or partially white,
. or curly when it was straight,
. or straight when it was curly…

But do not worry: this is temporary; your hair will thicken and progressively regain its original colour. Your traumatised hair cells need time to regain their vitality, after which everything will be back to normal.

8. Can a hair treatment help me regain my hair more quickly ?

Yes, it is possible to favour denser and stronger regrowing hair by specific massages and the application of products that help the scalp eliminate the medicine’s toxins and stimulate the activity of the roots (essential oils, sulfured proteins, vitamin B and various minerals).

9. My hair is regrowing as down, I want to shave it in order to strengthen it...

This will not make the hair stronger. Cutting does not have an impact on the hair’s strength. That is because hair does not grow through the points, like grass, but rather through the roots. It is from the root (and the blood vessels that feeds it) that the hair gets its strength. In order to help your regrowing hair strengthen itself, it is therefore on the root that action is needed .

10. Does the diet play an important role in the regrowing process?

Yes, of course. Given that it already plays a crucial role on the hair when it is in great shape, it does so even more on traumatised hair. After chemotherapy, your hair especially needs natural vitamins (which you will find in fruit and raw vegetables), sulphured proteins (sole, tuna, cooked ham, chicken, egg yoke…) and essential fatty acids + vitamin E (wheat germ and olive oil, cold sea greasy fish, almonds, hazel nuts…).

11. When can I return to colouring in order to hide the white hair?

As soon as your hair has regained a certain length (2 to 3 cm), there is no counter-indication to colouring it. However, we advise you to initially use non-oxidising plant-based dying products, such as henna, or temporary colourations. You will thus avoid any irritation and the possibility of your scalp having an allergic reaction.

Chemotherapy is a medical term for a course of treatment and is normally a combination of medication given to patients either in tablet form or by injections, which are prescribed by oncologists.Chemotherapy is administered to cancer patients, to destroy and stop the spread of rapidly reproducing cancer cells. The word 'chemotherapy' creates fear in patients but it should be looked upon as a course of treatment doing good and not harm.Chemotherapy induced hair loss is one of the most physically and psychologically distressing side effects of cancer chemotherapeutic drugs and radiation.

Alopecia medicamentosa, the baldness that results from chemotherapy and radiation, is absolutely devastating to the mindset of male and female cancer patients. The threat of hair loss can cause some patients to refuse medically proven additional chemotherapy. As hair loss is generally temporary and not life-threatening very little attention is given to this problem. The patients tend to fear hair loss as one of the dreaded side effects of their cancer treatment even after knowing well that it is temporary.

Chemotherapy can be prescribed for treatment for various instances of killing cancer cells. Usually, the chemotherapy drugs are administered only when the cancer cells are spread across the body. This is due to the fact that the chemotherapy drugs are usually injected into the blood and they travel around the body and might harm the cancer look-a-like cells as well. This is the reason why Radiotherapy, which uses radiation to destroy cancer cells, is sometimes preferred for destroying cancer cells concentrated in a particular part of the body.
Cancer cells are identified by their nature of rapid reproduction, i.e., they grow very fast and divide fast. The
chemotherapy drugs, intended to kill cancer cells, might also affect other cells with a similar property. This is the
reason why there are a few side effects when undergoing the chemotherapy treatment. The latest advancements in biotechnology are making it possible to develop drugs that identify the cancer cells more accurately and thus reducing the side effects.

Some of the fast-growing or fast-dividing cells that might become targets for chemotherapy are
The cells in the hair follicles: This is the reason why cancer treatment is often associated with hair loss. But the hair lost during this process does grow back once treatment has ended.
The cells in the stomach and bowel lining: When the drugs act on these cells, it might lead to nausea and diarrhea.

However, doctors prescribe supplement drugs to control this. Another helpful suggestion will be to time the meals properly to avoid full stomach when the drugs take effect.
The Blood Cells: In some cases, the blood cells will also get affected. The red cells carry oxygen to keep other cells alive and the white cells help keep the infections away. This might lead the patients to be more prone to infections and find them harder to fight off. But the hospitals will ensure that the blood levels are monitored and take appropriate corrective actions.
Other side effects include feelings of lower energy levels and extreme fatigue. Chemotherapy drugs can also affect the fertility of both men and women.

We understand how difficult it is to face hair loss along with cancer diagnosis, and we at Allure Hair are trying to putting you at ease through this transitional phase.

Even when a patient keeps his cancer a secret, sudden hair loss and the wearing of hair wigs or scarves will probably indicate to any observer into recognizing that the person is having some form of cancer. It’s up to you who you tell about losing your hair. Some people tell just their family and close friends, while others are happy to let everyone know. Of course if you choose to wear scarves or not to cover your head your hair loss may be more obvious, while if you choose to wear a wig many people may not notice that you’ve lost your hair. The psychological effect of hair loss among cancer patients suppresses their immune systems as much as the anticancer drugs and radiation. Looking good despite what the patients may be going through can help take control again and can be a vital factor to the healing process by providing powerful psychological benefits.

I advise patients to look at hair loss in a positive way. “If the chemotherapy is killing those hair follicles, it must be
destroying my cancer cells as well. So consider imagining your chemotherapy destroying your cancer cells as it results in the shedding of your hair."
Hair on the head usually determines an individual's appearance, a phenomenon of such importance that baldness often leads to severe psychological and/or sociological disturbances. Losing your hair can create emotions ranging from anger to depression. Balding women become even more emotional. Because it's so visible hair loss threatens your sense of self, your privacy, your sexuality, your personal image, and your vanity. Most people feel very self-conscious going out in public.

Some people, though, may find that the experience of losing their hair is not as upsetting as they thought it would be initially, perhaps because they are focusing more on the treatment itself.
Seeking emotional support from a support group or counselor may help you cope with these feelings and get the support you need and deserve.

Hair loss occurs because chemotherapy targets all rapidly dividing cells—healthy cells as well as cancer cells. Hair follicles, the structures in the skin filled with tiny blood vessels that make hair, are some of the fastest-growing cells in the body. If you're not under cancer treatment, your hair follicles divide every 23 to 72 hours. But as the chemotherapy does its work against cancer cells, it also destroys hair cells. Chemotherapy drugs cannot make out the difference between the rapidly dividing cancer cells and hair cells.

During the chemotherapy treatment all the hair goes into its resting phase known as Telogen. Every one, at whatever age, who has hair, undergoes this Telogen phase every day with most people losing 50-150 hairs but, due to the medication within the treatment, the hair follicles stay in this resting phase and remain dormant until the time that the course of treatment has been completed. Once you have completed your course of treatment you usually start to see fine white vellous hairs which can resemble soft baby like down approximately within 4-6 weeks.
When the course of treatment is completed, the hair will start to grow back. It is at this point that the hair is fine
(vellous) and normally white in colour but very soon, maybe within 4-6 weeks, returns to its natural shade and texture (terminal) as it was before the treatment had commenced and some patients have reported that their hair is better than before their treatment started. Once the hair is in the terminal stage it will take 12 months for the hair to reach the length of 6 inches, as hair grows at ½ inch per month.

Within a few weeks of starting chemotherapy, you may lose some or all of your hair. Hair loss does not occur with all chemotherapy medications and people may have different responses, even with the same medications. Some people will lose all their hair, while others may only experience thinning. Most women do lose some or all of their hair, usually after their second treatment. Some chemotherapy drugs affect only the hair on your head. Others cause the loss of eyebrows and eyelashes, pubic hair, and hair on your legs, arms, or underarms. The extent of hair loss depends on which drugs or other treatments are used, and for how long. The various classes of chemotherapy drugs all produce different reactions.
The frequency of your treatments will also affect hair loss. Some types of chemotherapy are given weekly and in small doses, and this minimizes hair loss. Other treatments are scheduled every three to four weeks in higher doses, and may be more likely to cause more hair loss. However most hair loss is not permanent and hair usually grows back after treatment is over.
Once the hair starts to shed, it will not be affected by handling, such as brushing or shampooing although some patient think that, if they do not handle their hair, it will not fall out. In fact this is not the case. This type of diffuse
loss means general thinning all over the scalp and body and not in patches.

Wig is the most common solution for aesthetic and practical purposes. They protect the scalp from sun and other environmental factors that damage hair and they help achieve a more natural look when matched with the person's own hair color. While most women are very comfortable wearing a wig, many prefer wearing scarves, while very few choose to show off their baldness proudly. Accepting the fact that you need to wear a wig can be very emotional, but a wig can also be the solution to helping you feel more like yourself again. With a wig you can look and feel just like a ‘normal’ person, and not a cancer patient. The key is to try and accept your wig, because there is no shame in wearing one.

People will respond to you losing hair in different ways, and you may find some reactions difficult to deal with. If
people don’t know what to say it may help put them at their ease if you bring the subject up first. You need to be
prepared for the possibility that not everyone will be as supportive as you’d like, and that can hurt. But lots of people will react well, so try not to withdraw from your friends or your social life.

Informing your children about your Hair loss

If you have children, of whatever age, you may wonder what to tell them about your cancer. We know that children are less anxious if they know what’s happening, and that it can be less frightening for them to know what is going on even if they don’t fully understand. So even though you may find it difficult, in most cases talking with your children about your cancer will help them and you.

Your children may find it upsetting to see you without any hair. It may help if you prepare them for the fact that you may lose your hair, tell them what you are going to wear on your head and let them know that your hair will grow back after some time.

Some children may be frightened by your bald head. The more positive you and your partner can be about it, the better. If your kids are old enough, you can assert your “coolness” by going bald. But if they are still scared despite your best efforts, it may be best to keep it covered when they are around.

CHEMOTHERAPY & SKIN

Chemotherapy is easier on the skin than on the hair. Even so, whatever a person's skin type, chemotherapy will make skin drier because the drugs interfere with oil and sweat glands. Keeping skin as moist as possible during treatment is important to keep it looking young and healthy. Moisture can also prevent cracking and chapping, which can lead to infection in the cancer patient, whose immune system is suppressed.
Cancer patients are advised never to pull, tug or scrub the face too hard. Over enthusiastic cleansing can strip away the remaining natural oils. Soap-free face cleansers that gently cleanse makeup and oil without drying skin are preferable.

Using an antimicrobial soap, however, to effectively clean areas like the armpits and genitals, which are prone to infection, is recommended.
Moisturizing day and night can slow down the skin's loss of moisture by leaving behind a filmy deposit of oil. The oil not only helps retard the moisture evaporation, but it also makes the surface of the skin softer and more pliable. This may be especially important for hands and soles of the feet, which may become sore and blistered. Rubber gloves should be used when doing household chores.
Cancer patients are advised to moisturize with products containing sunscreens with a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 15 because people undergoing chemotherapy may be more sensitive to harmful ultraviolet rays.

Dry, chapped lips can be helped with non pigmented lip balms or petrolatum-based products. We recommend using lipsticks only when lips are in good condition. Chemotherapy may also affect nails, retarding their growth and, in many cases, causing them to become thin and brittle and develop horizontal grooves.
It's not a good idea to cover the nails with acrylics or other types of wraps, since these materials can trap bacteria that may cause infection. Instead, the nails can be clipped short and moisturized with lotions. A light-color nail polish will camouflage any nail imperfections. But to prevent nails from drying out, only non-acetone-based nail polish remover should be used.

Cancer patients who have professional manicures should bring their own implements to guard against infection. Cuticles should be pushed back rather than cut.

Lace front or full lace Wigs are not recommended for patients going through Chemotherapy treatments. One of the side effects of the drugs administered during treatment is dry skin. The skin will be easily irritated by wearing a Full Lace Wig.

CHEMICAL CURLING OR PERMANENT WAVING

Chemical treatment of the hair is best avoided until the hair is at least six inches long. It is difficult to get nice
curls if the hair is much shorter even with a healthy head of hair. For best results use a mild body wave with short processing time.

The hair should be wrapped loosely on the largest size curling rod possible. Looser curls will be less damaging to the recovering hair shaft, and will thus minimize hair shaft breakage.

WARNING! Many patients cannot tolerate the permanent wave solution on their scalp for some times up to one year following chemotherapy. This extreme sensitivity of the scalp is not unusual during the regrowth period. In such cases permanent waving should not be attempted.

HAIR COLORING

Hair coloring may also be irritating to the sensitive scalp and should be avoided until the scalp sensation returns to normal. Once the scalp is healed, the hair may be colored. Consult your doctor before using any hair color.PERMANENT HAIR COLORS ARE THE MOST DAMAGING TO THE HAIR SHAFT and should be minimized in favor of semi-permanent hair colors which are gradually washed away with four to six shampooings.

LIGHTENING the hair color should not be attempted at this time. Additionally, the hair should be altered only 3 shades from its regrowth color as more drastic color changes could increase hair shaft breakage.

The period of time following chemotherapy treatment is a time of healing and rebuilding for the body. Hair growth will gradually return, and with time most patients regain a healthy head of hair. Following some of the enclosed hair care tips will insure that the regrown hair looks and feels its very best!

Coping With Hair Loss

Radiation or Radiotherapy

Radiotherapy uses high-energy x-rays to treat cancer. Like chemotherapy, it also affects healthy cells, but only in the specific area being treated. This means that you will only lose hair from that particular area of the body which is being treated. For example, if you’re having radiotherapy to the breast and lymph glands in your armpit you’ll only lose underarm hair, and for men, chest hair. If radiation is used to treat the breast, there is no hair loss on your head. But there might be loss of hair around the nipple, for women who have hair in that location. Radiation to the brain, used to treat metastatic cancer in the brain, usually causes complete hair loss on the head. You will be informed by your doctor or counselor about the likelihood of you losing your hair before treatment starts.
After radiotherapy your hair will usually grow back. You may find that the regrowth is patchy, and it can take six to twelve months to grow back completely. It’s also possible that the hair may not grow back at all. This will depend on the dose of radiotherapy and the number of treatments you’ve had.

Children's Wigs, Partial Wigs, and Top Pieces

Hair loss can have a negative effect on the self-esteem of everyone adults as well as children. When children lose their hair, whether as a result of medical treatments, health conditions, or burn accidents, they don't just suffer physically.

The change in their appearance can drastically weaken their self-image and damage their self-esteem.

Very often children suffering from hair loss will become introverted and distant, to avoid drawing attention to themselves. We specialize in wigs, partial wigs, and top pieces for children who have lost their hair as a result of chemotherapy, alopecia, burns and other medical conditions. Each wig is hand-tied and is made completely from human hair.

The hair is tied onto a breathable mesh fabric that is lightweight and virtually undetectable. These solutions allow children the confidence to maintain an active and exciting life. We aim to use our knowledge, skill and resources to help kids everywhere.

Due to the small size of their heads, finding readymade wigs for children can always be difficult. Until the age when the child is growing physically, the adult wigs available on the market, even in yhe smallest sizes, are generally just too big to fit perfectly onto small children's heads. Not every child going through hair loss treatments will require or want a wig, but having one will give that child the confidence to socialize with their friends and give them their self esteem back.

A bad, ill-fitting wig on a child who needs a nonsurgical hair replacement for children option, such as Cancer Wigs is almost as bad as being bald. To be overheard about others laughing or commenting about the ill-fitting wig takes emotional toll. The emotional toll all of this teasing can take can be as devastating as the Cancer treatment itself, causing children to stay indoors, avoid invitations to social gatherings and generally take a big step back from the recovery that will help them heal.

It makes them feel and look different from their friends. It makes them look ill, even after they are done with the treatment. And by the time a child who’s been through all this is feeling well and ready to get back to normal life, hair loss stands in their way. No child really wants to feel different. Being bald, however, can make children the target of teasing and thoughtless comments from other children, or be stared at when s/he returned to school. Kids do not have the same understanding those adults do.

In some cases there will be no hair loss and with others only a small amount of loss occurs. In both of these cases there may be no need to buy your child a wig, since neither will result in baldness. Before assuming that the type of treatment your child is going to receive will cause hair loss, talk to your doctor and the staff at the hospital where the treatments are to be given.

Small amounts of hair loss can usually be covered by a different hair style. Once you know that your child is going to suffer from hair loss, it is time inform them and discuss their options. Younger children are not as likely to be overtly upset over their hair loss; many of them see it as a crown for overcoming the cancer. Teenagers on the other hand tend to be far more concerned over their looks and may be devastated by the loss of hair, especially young ladies.
Before your child goes in for their first treatment make sure you cut and save some strands of their own hair. This is useful later to match the hair when making a wig closely resemble their own hair.
There will be a period of time between when the treatments start and when your child will actually need or want to wear a wig. A child at this time may still wish to cover their head to hide the increase in loss of hair. You should help them try on several different styles of hats and scarves until they find one that will suit them until it is time for the wig.

Different Types of Childrens Hair Loss

Hair loss in children can be very difficult to deal with depending on the child’s age as well as the child’s understanding of the hair loss which is occurring.
Most common types of hair loss in children are:

Tinea Capitis
This is a disease caused by a fungal infection of the scalp, eyebrows and occasionally the eyelashes by attacking the hair shafts and follicles and digesting the keratin of the hair. Another common term for Tinea Capitis is ringworm of the scalp. The condition is transmitted by contact from one infected child to another through the sharing of combs, brushes, hats, pillows or bath towels. It can be highly contagious and can spread throughout a whole family, school or nursery. It can also pass from animals to humans.
This infection is more common in children aged 3 - 10 and more so in boys than girls. Ringworm of the scalp is not dangerous but must not go without treatment. The signs and symptoms is scaling and redness in a round or uneven area of stubble hair. Treatments can be prescribed by your GP.

Children's Alopecia Areata
Used to describe hair loss occurring in patches, and thought to be an auto-immune disease of the hair with the body's immune system attacking the hair follicles, causing the hair to stop growing and enter the telogen (resting) phase cycle of the hair. When this cycle is over, the hair will then fall out. Only when the cells called T-lymphocytes stop attacking the follicles, will the hair grow again.
The good news for children is that over 80% grow new hair within 12 month. At first and on odd occasions the hair can grow back white, but it will return to its natural colour eventually.
Children's Traction Alopecia
Traction Alopecia in children is a common cause of hair loss particularly in girls. Braiding and wearing hair in tight ponytails are major causes of this type of hair loss causing unnecessary tension on fragile hair in the hairline areas.

Children's Trichotillomania

This is the compulsion or habit to pull and pluck at their own hair which can result in irregular patches. This is mainly concentrated on the scalp but can also involve the eyelashes and eyebrows as well. Often parents may not be aware of this habit as it can be done when the child is watching TV, studying or when in bed before going to sleep.
The cause of this condition is many times related to stress or other possible or emotional deficiencies.
Children's Telogen Effluvium
This condition can occur from the result of a high fever or severe emotional stress and cause the hair to enter the telogen (resting) phase prematurely. After 3 months of the telogen phase, when the child may appear fine and past any illness or stressful event, the hair may start to shed, which can last for up to 6 weeks. The hair will appear thin and not all hair will be lost, nor will it appear in patches.
Hair can take around 3-6 months to re-enter the growth phase so hair re-growth may be a slow process.
